Why do you celebrate Easter with eggs, bunnies and gift baskets for kids?

The egg is SYMBOLIC toward the RESURRECTION, the NEW LIFE in CHRIST. Egg=fertile.





The bunny is SYMBOLIC of purity. White=purity, bunny could also be interpreted as reproduction as in re-birth (resurrection).





The gift basket is SYMBOLIC that Mary carried Jesus in her womb (basket) and JESUS was a GIFT to humanity.





Therefore we collect the EGGS and place them in the Basket and give them as GIFTS to our children, so that they may be blessed in Christ.





You grow wise with age, and learn the symbolisms--or just call me a genius-wink wink.

Reply:My family doesnt. It's not scriptural to do so. Easter is about the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus...not a rabbit and eggs that come from pagan beliefs pertaining to a goddess of fertility.

Reply:It all has nothing to do with Jesus' death. It's pagan rituals that rob the true meaning of Jesus' death. It's about spending money on things that aren't in accordance to bible teachings. Where in the bible does it say: to make god happy buy eggs, paint them, hide them and let little children find them, then you will be with me in paradise. Parents do what they were taught by their parents even if it doesn't make sense. Kids are not being taught the true meaning of things nowadays, it's all about toys, candy and nice clothing. "me me me me".
Reply:I believe everyone should remember the real meaning of Easter. Yet, why do we celebrate Christmas with Santa Clause? I think as long as you know what the true meanings of the holidays are, it is ok to have a little fun with pretend fuzzy bunnies and fat men in red suits. Aside from everything else, people love candy. Haha.
Reply:People lost the essence of what Easter is really about by turning it into a money making holiday. I would say all holidays have turned to this. Not surprising in this country though. It's all about making as much as you can. There are few though that still let the meaning of the holiday stay with them.
Reply:It is celebrating the coming of spring- new things getting born.... but it wouldnt have quite the same effect if you celebrated the new hatch of mosquitos or threw grass in peoples faces.
