If i sold gift baskets on ebay wud you buy them?

i'm starting gift basket business any occasion or event can b catered for, is it something you would buy?

If i sold gift baskets on ebay wud you buy them?
depends on the price!
Reply:I told a friend to do just this, this past winter. I told her to put together gift baskets for like secretaries day, valentines day, birthdays, saint patties day, etc.

Plus she makes awesome home made cookies and I told her she should make up different cookie baskets. She couldn't see it working so she never did it. I personally know that people would pay 8.95 or so for a small basket of 6 of her cookies. Easy $5 profit per basket and that is a small.

You can do fancy baskets with wine, glasses, cork remover, etc.

You can do new born baskets, for those that just had a child.

You can do candle baskets of multiple small candles of scents.

You can do a barbie doll basket for a 10 yr olds birthday.

You can do a muffin/cookie/candy basket.

You can do a welcome to the neighborhood/new job basket.

You can do a mans birthday basket of 4 ties.

The ideas can almost be endless.

Many people in todays hurry up world have no time to take the time to shop for a gift. A quick easy basket gift that either fits an occasion or can be personalized I think would go over well if named right.

Back at valentines day I saw a ton of commericals for some conn. bear or something or other. Since it was simple, easy to do, and a fair price, I bet they got swamped in sales.
Reply:buy 1 get 1 free
Reply:Yes, although it sounds more convinient to have a land location for this business rather than ebay.
Reply:Probably not, I live in a small town and at least twenty places have gift baskets. You can more or less make them up yourself,I do. I wouldn't pay S%26amp;H for one from EBAY.
Reply:Pack your stuff in Longaberger baskets.
Reply:Nice idea; not sure I'd but from Flea Bay...try Amazon Marketplace, its got a better reputation.
Reply:depends on the person and the items like somepeople love things to do with baths
Reply:Personally, I wouldn't buy gift baskets. I've worked on ebay for the past two years and I personally wouldn't recommend selling those particular items there. This is due to the weight, and people don't tend to search for them all that much. Of course, you would sell a few, but I doubt your profit would outweigh your fees by much.

Have you tried asking at all your local flower shop, or wine shops to display your card. Maybe go in and ask them if they could advertise your products or work on a commission basis. Cross-promoting is one of the best ways.
Reply:no!
Reply:nope

because i don't even know what a "gift basket " is

but

that doesn't mean other people wouldn't buy them

have you tried searching ebay's "completed listings" to see who has successfully sold these in the past

(you need a valid user id for ebay to do that search - it's greyed out if you are not logged in)

Anybody know how to make candles, gift baskets, & smell-good soap? PLEASE READ~!!?

I was thinking about making my little sister a Large gift basket with some things in it... and I was looking for a little advice. I would like to know how to make soap and candles! Let me know if you can help!

Anybody know how to make candles, gift baskets, %26amp; smell-good soap? PLEASE READ~!!?
Hi :)

This site has the recipes for soap

http://www.eaudrey.com/

and this site has candle recipes

http://www.candletech.com/

You might want to purchase a nice wicker basket or a fancy glass bowl to display the items in..line the bowl with a nice face cloth.....you could include a sea sponge or a loofah .

I think it's really nice that you're going to this trouble for your sister....she'll love it! :)
Reply:Candles are easy to make but you really have to study how to make candles. The wax has a melt point and if you get it to hot it can explode. You can learn how and buy kits at www.cajuncandles.com. You can buy melt and pour soaps that are really inexpensive and fragrance oils also at Cajun Candles. It is nice that you want to give your sister hand made gifts. Hope this helps.
Reply:I make all the items you discussed. It will be a bit expensive to buy everything you need in the way of supplies to do this. It takes a lot of experimenting to make candles that will be safe to burn. You have to get all the steps right and measure your scents just so. My suggestion to you would be to go to Michaels or Hobby Lobby and buy a kit that will make just a few bars of soap or a couple of candles. Melt and pour kits. The melt and pour glycerine soaps are easy and turn out very pretty.
Reply:Well, this site has some great recipes and some good general information too: http://www.makeyourowncosmetics.com

Also, if you go to http://www.moneysavingexpert.com there's a whole forum thread about making Christmas gifts and tons of other useful craft stuff.

Hope that helps!
Reply:no sorry i do not
Reply:when i was little we use to get plain white candles, a box of crayons, and a lighter. We would melt the crayons over the white candle and it turned out to be a beautiful and colorful candle.
Reply:when i was in form 2 my art teacher teach me how to make a colourful candle.you may need pot, white candles, a box of crayons, and a fragrance oil. 1 you must melt the candle and any colour of crayon ,when the colour of the mixture look nice you may add the fragrance oil and pour the colourful candle into a suitable glass shape or anything else

Is it cheaper to make your own gift basket as compared to buying one?

I'm not trying to boast but I've been told I make really nice gift baskets. I have a bridal shower to go to but I'm short on cash. If I buy a gift basket and gift wrap from the dollar store, and buy some bath and body products from a local warehouse sale (which is good quality) will it be cheaper than buying a ready made basket?

Is it cheaper to make your own gift basket as compared to buying one?
I've always done my own. For baby showers as well. I always get rave reviews. And it's a plus when you put your time and love into it. Good for you if your good at it. Go for it. I just love putting mine together. I fine the reactions are rewarding as well.

Take care and have fun.
Reply:It's not just baskets anymore! Make a pyramid tower of boxes and put different kinds of cookies or fruit or whatever you want. For a baby shower, a little bathtub with goodies in it wrapped in cellophane. Report It

Reply:That's also a great idea Lis. For baby showers i use those thick see through heavy bags. Like the ones you buy when shopping for Bed in a bag? They zip and button too. Report It

Reply:it would probably be cheaper to make your own.

it also has more value when you make it yourself.
Reply:depends on how much time you have free, dont forget to count your labor as an expense. typically, i earn 20 dollars an hour, so if it takes me two to three hours to do it, its cheaper to spend 30 mins and pick up a premade basket for 40. but it also depends on the person, homemade baskets tend to be more genuine and from the heart.
Reply:I think it would be cheaper to make your own because you can control the cost of the items that you include, and you can decide how many items to put in the basket. I think it would be more thoughtful than buying one, and possibly better looking. Have fun making it, if you decide to.
Reply:If you are getting your materials discounted, you will end up paying less and getting more. Many people would probably choose to make their own if they had the time. Go for it!
Reply:I love making gift baskets, but to be honest, I always find it is more expensive if you make your own. The reason? You add more, you find cute things that you can't decide, so you get more than one, etc. I don't mind spending the time or the energy, but it seems more economically feasible to purchase one. I have even tried to go when there are sales to buy things like "3 for 10", but I always seem to spend more. Baskets are inexpensive if you buy them at Michael's or a dollar store though! Have fun!
Reply:The nice thing about making your own is you can control the quality of products in it.

It also tells the recipient that you care enough to put your own time and thought into your gift, which is invaluable
Reply:making your own is always smarter if you have the knack, you can put nice things and more thoughtful items be sure to put one very nice item tho... no need in being tooooooooo cheap
Reply:thats sweet, go go go! nothing beats the creation of one's own sweat and ingenuit. take it from someone who salutes people making stuffs out of hand

all the best, wish i could see our masterpieces
Reply:Just buy one. It saves a lot a time lady.
Reply:I think buying one is cheaper, because making your own can waste of time and waste of money.

Where can i buy cheap cheap baskets or boxes for making my own gift basket?

goodwill ... I buy them for $1 and then I spray paint them ... people LOVE them ... that way I've saved money to put better gifts IN the baskets!

Where can i buy cheap cheap baskets or boxes for making my own gift basket?
If you have a Michael's Craft store or Jo-Anne Fabrics near you, they have tons of stuff for gift baskets. you can also check discount retailers like Target and K-mart. Its almost Easter so there are tons of baskets out there.
Reply:The Dollar Store is a teacher's wet dream...Can I say that? Anyway, they sell cheap baskets.
Reply:if you have a dollar store nearby, that's a great place...because everything's a dollar!! thay usually have lots of baskets and boxes and stuff...Goodwill and Salvation Army are good too
Reply:Garden Ridge is a nice craft store if you have one in your area.

Whats the best gift basket you have recieved at work?

I need to put together 100 gift baskets for Christmas to give to our business clients and am wondering what are some of the best items you have found in your lunchroom? Keep in mind we are in Hawaii so no cold weather for us =o) Thanks!

Whats the best gift basket you have recieved at work?
And no alcohol. Not all business clients appreciate alcohol as a gift. As a gift basket company, I do thousands of these each year. The most popular foods are those that are easy to eat, a mixture of sweet and salty, and foods that cannot be found in your local grocery store. Gourmet means different things to different people -- it simply means "good food". If you are putting together 100 gift baskets, you should be able to buy some very unique but wonderful snack foods wholesale. Plan to spend a lot of hours putting them together. You'll find that 100 baskets is a lot of baskets. Good luck.

What do you want in an online gift basket company?

I have a gift basket company located in Oregon. I recently changed my dot com to www.giftbasketcreator.com and now I am trying to develop the web site.

I was planning on having a build-a-basket site in addition to having a variety of signature predesigned baskets.

What types of baskets do you want to see? Any specialty groups I should cater to that few others do?

What kinds of products to you want to see?

What do you want in an online gift basket company?
I love sending food gifts as thank yous to business acquaintances. Build a basket is a very nice option, I like that. Depending on the person, I'll send fruit, meat %26amp; cheese, sweets or a combo.

For myself, I order specialty pickled vegetables.

As far as specialty groups, small business owners.
Reply:Hmmm.... I'd ♥LOVE♥ to see these:

-Chocolate Variety Basket

-Chocolate %26amp; Strawberry Basket

-Basket 4 Dogs

-Spa Basket

-Candy ♥ers Basket

-Movie Night Basket

.....Good luck!! Maybe I can buy something some day!

********************************EDIT**...

Also these 2!!:

-Coffee, Tea, or Hot Chocolate Basket

-Art Basket

-Baskets for Kids (w/ maybe a Teddy Bear, dressup jewelry, etc. and cars, books, candy, and maybe a dvd!)

-Disney-Themed Basket

....lol, if you need more ideas, feel free to email me @ alwaysyasmen_07@yahoo.com!!!
Reply:It is so hard to find baskets for kids, Teenagers. The variety is just not there. All the baskets look the same on everyweb site. Do a search check out the other companies. You should also try "personalized theme" baskets. Let people call you up and tell you what kind of stuff they want in it. That you don't find anywhere.

Good Luck

I am looking to sell gift baskets in virginia, at places that are more upscale than flea markets.?
You have to be making the money to pay for a sales person and taxes. I would suggest being hands on and making your biz more personable. You provide top notch biz and people will keep coming to you. Good luck in your venture.

P.S. Stay away from the mall very high priced retail spaces.

What's a good way to package gift baskets (wrapped in shrink wrap)?
Packing peanuts will work. Also the air pillow packing will work too. You should talk to a box company and see if they have a box already made for gift baskets or check S. Walter Corp @ www.swalter.com. They are packing specialists.

I'm trying to make idividual gift baskets for the different members of my family. Any one got any ideas?

I'm a student so they have to be fairly inexpensive. And I have a large range of ages, from 6-66, to buy for.

I'm trying to make idividual gift baskets for the different members of my family. Any one got any ideas?
Take a family picture at Thanksgiving or several. These could be posed or even more fun, candids. Either buy some inexpensive frames and decorate them or personalize them or make your own frames. This way, everyone's is a little different, yet still alike enough that you will feel that they all have an equal gift. You could also through in some cookies.
Reply:10.00 gift cert.for movie rental w/popcorn,soda---candle theme[ scented candle w/ a heater plate,or snuffer w/ a nice mirrored dish--assorted bath soaps w/exfoilater,lotions--flavored hot choc.or teas or coffees add some cookies bought or baked and a mug--crayola books, water paints and cards, crafts like beads, stickers, glue, construction paper. happy holidays
Reply:I always do homemade candy and cookies. If you are away at college you could find some little inexpensive items that represent some of your favorite things in the area, even items that you could gather for free.

Can you give me an idea for gift baskets?

what to put in them and also I'd like to have some cool ideas for filler, not just fancy paper. Useful filler would be neat. I'd like to make baskets for people on my list for Christmas. Thank you, I'm sure all suggestions would be used!!

Can you give me an idea for gift baskets?
I love giving gift baskets!! Depending on the basket, fillers can be table cloths, napkins, towels, gloves and mittens, a scarf etc. If you want something "fluffy" try curling strips of colorful curling ribbon.

Gift Ideas:

Movie buff: DVD's, popcorn, movie tickets, boxed candies.

Newly Weds: Wine, wine glasses, candles, table cloth, romantic cd, cheese and crackers

Reader: Book marks, mini book light, books or book store gift certificate, journal.

Knitter: Knitting magazine, needle case, pretty yarns

Sports fan: Sweatshirt or t-shirt with their favorite team logo, coffee or beer mugs with team logo. Tickets to a game.

Person who has everything: Food basket with all the junk food they like. Candy, nuts, sausage and cheese, smoked oysters, olives.

The possibilities are endless.
Reply:I'm going to make several little baskets for the ladies I work with. I'm going to get little soaps and lotions from Bath and Body to put in them. I also have a cute Christmas dish cloth to put in each. I will probably put in a little candle from Yankee Candles and candy canes. I may wrap them in the colorful cellophane paper with a bow.
Reply:Personal care gift baskets are nice. For a woman, fill with bath supplies,lotions,deodorant,powder,anythi... you would use for yourself! You could put a nice fluffy towel on the bottom, and some face cloths for filler.

A nice food basket. Do a pasta one.Pasta, sauce ,good,Parmesan cheese, bottle of wine, wine glasses and use cloth napkins for filler.

Baby basket.Fill with things you would need to take care of the infant. A can of infant formula(make sure to find out the exact kind the baby uses!),lotion, diapers,a little toy, wipes, and a soft little blanket.

I could go on and on the list is endless.

Merry Christmas to you and yours
Reply:The answer above is great.

My favourite one is a 'Pamper pack', It contains fragrant candles, bubble bath, bath salts, bath oil, special fruit soaps, a sponge and an oil burner with oil. It is not an expensive one to put together for a female.

For a guy, I make one filled with varieties of home made biscuits, sweets, a couple of cans of soft drink and alcohol if the person is of legal drinking age.

Hope you have fun making your baskets.

Have a great Christmas.
Reply:Obviously you know the person pretty well if you are going to buy a present so you know their likes. Some of my favorite gift basket ideas are bath products (loofla, bath pillow, bath salts, bubble bath, shower gel, lotion, etc). Another is a foot care basket (clippers, pumis, scraper, file, foot cream, etc) A coffee or tea basket is nice too. Assorted flavors of coffee come in small packs so your friend could enjoy several flavors. Teas also come in assorted flavors. A mug or two would also be nice in either basket. A baking basket( muffin tins, homemade baggged muffin and/or cake and/or cookie mix with instructions.
Reply:i usually do one for my niece, shes 16 this year, instead of a gift "basket" i use a oversized purse (just her style anyway) %26amp; fill with costume jewelry, make up- glosses, eye shadows, stuff like that... purfume, a head band, nail polishes... you can find all that really cheap %26amp; trial sized purfumes for near nothing... its really cool to see that its a gift she actually likes! =)

For a woman at any age, pampering stuff you usually wouldnt buy yourself (lotions, foot scrubs, exfoliating cream, a gift certificate for a pedi/mani, cd)

For a man, maybe cologne, nail clippers, a cd, socks, fishing hooks, cards, dominos, pocket knife, wallet, gloves, tie, the possibilitys are endless, it just depends on his interests... dont overlook the small things, thats sometimes what ppl notice the most...

Reply:It's a VERY competitive industry. I used to work for a corporate gifting company and we had hundreds of vendors. There's lots of people still doing it, but it's pretty competitive. If you have an "angle" or a niche to fill, you'll do fine, though.
Reply:yes they do gift basket are usually good bargains
Reply:Yes people do still buy them....but I think you need to have a unique idea....don't do the same old stuff like candles, wine, lotions, food, etc......good luck!

socks, small bottle of after shave, stationary, home baked treats if he isn't diabetic,Chex mix if he is,fresh fruit, Comb, Kleenex, Large print puzzle books, Large print playing cards, Hankies, depends on how much money your group has, flannel shirt, slippers, sweatshirt. Older folks are usually cold, and like these items. You are doing a wonderfull thing. I work in a nursing home and the folks there appreciate even a kleenex box wrapped up.
Reply:coffee, chocolate, a cute Christmas card. Maybe a gift card too.

Reply:I would say a variety of candies and foods. he may be on a special diet, so get low fat or whatever food for old people. you could go with slippers, but he probably has 20 pairs by now. maybe some sweaters? or new socks? a nice blanket? a coffin? some books, general fiction. do you know anything about the person, or is it just random? porn? money? gloves and hat? mens lotion? well, you can't go wrong with toilet paper. $20 worth of toilet paper.

How to make towel cake gift baskets?

Well I go to eBay for ideas. I started making towel cakes a couple months ago. This is how Idid it

Get a decorative plate and a good size jar candle. place the candle on the plate. You will need safety pins too. Wrap towels neatly around the candle. Pin them together. Bottom layer done. Get a bottle of wine or sparkling juice and set it on the candle. Wrap the towel around the bottle for the next layer. You can also hide hot pads and wash cloths in the towels. When done wrap in cellophane and add some ribbons.

If I purchase items and package in gift baskets, am I breaking any laws, do I need permission ?

I am thinking about starting a small ebusiness. Do I need permission to use existing products: Milk-bone dog biscuits, for example do I need to contact manufacturer? Additionally, should I enclose a disclaimer to protect me from liability if someone burns down their house by using candles packaged in basket improperly...something along the lines of "Please read and follow manufacturers labeling, (My business name) can not be held liable for failure to do so."

Thanks!

If I purchase items and package in gift baskets, am I breaking any laws, do I need permission ?
No, you are not breaking any laws by doing that. Just make sure that in your description you list the items that are in it...ex. Milkbone Dog Biskits. As far as the candles...make sure that you package them properly and you won't be responsible if their house burns down (include all warnings). The bad part about your own business is that even if you include a label saying your company can not be held liable for things...it won't hold up in court unless the person has signed a paper agreeing to it (which isn't likely to happen seeing as the basket would more than likely be for someone other than the person who bought it). I suggest you contact a small business lawyer before opening your business to make sure you have done everything on your part that you can to protect your business. Good Luck.
Reply:No problem. People do it.
Reply:Since you're not changing the products original packaging, and you're not claiming it's "Your product", you're fine.

Also, make sure your buy for "resale" and you don't pay sales taxes on the items. It would just add to your overall cost. Only the "final purchaser" is required to pay sales tax.

It wouldn't hurt to included the little disclaimer if you wish, I'd make it into an interesting little story, instead of a legal mumbo jumbo document.

Good luck with your new business.

What is your opinion of gift baskets for out of area guests, say sent to their hotel room?

I did gift bags for my wedding. They had bottled water, snacks and brochures of local attractions in them.

The bags were plain but were tied with ribbon in my wedding colors.

It was cheap and much appreciated!

What is your opinion of gift baskets for out of area guests, say sent to their hotel room?
no were.
Reply:that is VERY NICE and would probably be very welcomed considering that the food in hotels can become quite costly. Before you do, check to see if the hotel has a free buffet.

SOme of the hotels have lots of fruit in the mornings as part of a free brunch. If the hotel where they are staying is one of them, it would be somewhat a waste of money. If you have acertained that this is not the case, SEND AWAY!

Having a guilt free snack would save them quite a bit of money over the course of three or four days and it is a very thoughtful gesture. Just dont make it too big as you dont want it to be wasted if they are traveling by plane they wont be able to take ANY OF that with them.

If the hotel already has the free breakfast, why not call and see if you could prepay for a meal at the hotel for them (that would probably even cost you less). Judging by your question, you are probably a very thoughtful person, whatever you decide to do, they will be happy to k now that you were thinking of them and took the time to do something nice .

THE WORLD NEEDS MORE OF YOU!
Reply:I have enjoyed them on the occasions that i have received them (3).
Reply:Gift Baskets are great. I think its a great idea!
Reply:I work for a flower shop. We have all kinds of "well to do" customers send their clients these gift baskets as a welcoming gift. They go over real well. Everybody loves them, especially if you specialize them. For example, One of our customers brought us a bottle of whiskey to include in our basket. The recipients love that stuff.
Reply:I think it's a nice touch, if you can afford it. We have appreciated the ones we have gotten.
Reply:a thoughtfull idea
Reply:It's a great idea that I think most people would enjoy. Possibly a cheese, cracker, fruit basket maybe. Don't forget a nice bottle of wine or champagne!
Reply:To have gift baskets professionally made and delivered to the hotel room is nice if you have lots of money to spend but certainly not necessary or would it be expected. I think that if they were hand made and left at the hotel for the guests when they check in it would be more personal and meaningful. A thank you note for them coming, a map of the area, directions to the wedding and possibly modes of transportation, maybe some fruit, chocolate, bottled water and perhaps a bottle of wine would be nice. It all depends on your budget. Have a great wedding and married life.
Reply:A great idea...you could even make some up yourself and leave them at the hotel for when they check in. A few snacks, a local map, a welcome letter written by you, a list of phone numbers of your family in town, also maybe a list of nearby good restaurants/local attractions/churches/where the closest drug store, convenient store or grocery is located. Also some traveling needs would be nice, travel sized toothpaste, q-tips, asprin, all the little things we forget to pack. And maybe something a little quirky and fun.
Reply:I think it is a really nice idea. I have heard of this done a couple of times for wedding guests of friends.
Reply:My opinion is that a gift basket is a great idea. I would love to find a welcome basket waiting for me in my suite.
Reply:I think it's a wonderful and very thoughtful gift.
Reply:Very thoughtful, but unnecessary.
Reply:Very good idea.

Don't forget to include a map of the area.
Reply:We did this. Instead of baskets, we got white canvas bags from a store (either Hobby Lobby or A C Moore). These cost less and the people thought they were more practical and useful. We tied the hands with ribbon of the color used in the wedding ceremony. We got most of the items from Sams Discount which helped keep the cost down. We also included a few special items for people with special needs (diabetics, people with allergies, etc.) Make sure to include a map from the motel to where the wedding will occur.

Good luck.
Reply:I think it's nice if its not too pushy. The out-of-area guests probably realize that they are in a different community and this will definitely make them feel more welcome and make their stay more enjoyable.

What should I include in gift baskets for out of town guests?

Maps and directions to all events are a Must.Phone numbers of a family member in the area to call just in case and the hall and church. Most hotels now have coffee pots, and microwave ovens in the room. You can also ask if the rooms have refigerators .

I would do a adults and kids baskets. Popcorn, crackers, (cheese and peperonie or a nice cheese spread)if they have friges, some kind of candy bottles of water and soda. Plus a couple of $10.00 gift cards to resturants next to the hotel. Note too most hotels now serve a contintal breakfast, so at least that meal is taken care of. 2 votive holders and candles with matches. You can find a box set at the dollar store.

I would add for the kids, animal crackers, coloring books and crayons. or doodle pads and colored penciles. bubble bath or color bath form.

You dont have to get too carried away with this. You can even just put them in a nice gift bags

You are so sweet. When my sister got married she is well to do and a lovely person she made baskets for the bridal party I was the matron of honor and also the out of towners that took the time to come to the wedding Oh it was wonderful.

She had candies and chips and all sorts of treats I was so blessed. it is nice to see a bride concerened about others not just herself I wish you all the best and every happiness:)
Reply:Maybe one of those gift cards from a gas station for gas...that'd definitely be useful for the trip back home.
Reply:Little travel size packages of toiletries like Tylenol, nice hand lotion, mouthwash, tissues, etc.

If you have the money, a pair of cozy slippers.

Nice (but inexpensive!) coffee mugs w/single servings of herbal tea, instant coffee/cappuccinos, hot chocolate. Bottled water. A few flavor packets for the water. Granola/breakfast bars. A few apples, oranges or bananas. Maybe a single serving of crackers/cookies (World Market has a *ton* of little gift basket type foods!)

If you live in a larger city, a map of the city. Maybe a list of nearby attractions, restaurants, etc.

EDIT: The gas card is an awesome idea =)
Reply:In the guest basket I recently received there was:

- travel size tooth paste

- travel size mouth wash

- 2 - tooth brushes

- Advil

- Razors

- chocolate

- chips

- Tums

- Bottles of water

- mints

- gum

Basicly anything that you think a person my need that they might have forgotten.
Reply:Depending on your budget..I would include an area map, couple bottles of water, tin of mints, granola bars or crackers for snack, disposible camera, small tolietries, some type of chocolate, an itinerary of what events, parties or cocktail hours they will be invited, or any plans of golf times, etc. you have planned. Also include a telephone number to a reliable person who could help them with their needs or questions. A small note to your guests would be nice. If there are some special attractions they might want to visit, a brochure would be nice. Or, if $$ permits, tickets to a special attraction or a gift card to eatery nearby. Nice thought.
Reply:Go to AAA or the hotel that your guests are staying at and get some packets on local area attractions. Include a map and directions to the rehearsal dinner, church and the reception site.

You can give them some snacks to munch on...chips, popcorn, pretzels, candy. Get some bottled water, soda, etc.

You can add some personal items like toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, etc.

Maybe you can give them a little gift certificate to the hotel restaurant or a restaurant that is close by.

Why can't Celebrity Award Show Gift Baskets be replaced by donations to Celebrity Causes?

What if Home Depot donated lumber in the name of Celebrity presenters to New Orleans. Or White Westinghouse donated appliances.

A whole new meaning to Celebrity Gift Baskets...

Goodwill Donations to Honor the Celebs for their time - and improve the world?

Is it possible?

Why can't Celebrity Award Show Gift Baskets be replaced by donations to Celebrity Causes?
thats a great idea...to bad it will never happen...celebs would never give up free stuff
Reply:That's such a great idea. They should do that. I mean celebs are rich enoughh to go out %26amp; Get that stuff themselves.
Reply:I have always wondered as to why celebs are given these gifts in the first place...they are celebs because we make them celebs, so to reward them such luxurious gifts for presenting the awards is totally insane....since the gifts are donated for promotion anyway, why can't the donors of these gifts auction them off and use the money to help someone who needs the help? And to think these celebs expect these gifts in the first place in order to be a presenter makes me angry as well...they are too pampered as it is, and should learn to "pay it forward"....it would make the world a much better place...
Reply:Many celebs are too selfish to give up anything they could get for free. Why do the appearance if you can't get something?
Reply:I TOTALLY AGREE!

I am about to start a gift wrapping business, do you think people would be interested? Also offer gift baskets

I wanted to know if the gift wrapping is something people would be interested in. I thought about reasonable prices like 1 to 5 dollars depending on size. Please tell me what you think. Thanks so much.

I am about to start a gift wrapping business, do you think people would be interested? Also offer gift baskets
Maybe if you sold gifts and cards as well.
Reply:I'd think it'd be a very seasonal business.

You wouldn't get filthy rich with it, but you could get some money during the Thanksgiving/Xmas period. Othrwise, during the rest of the year, I see a very low demand and, perhaps not what you want to hear, it will not work.

Also, in many malls (at least in the uk) you can have gifts wrapped for free provided you bought the item in that mall.
Reply:It sounds like a good idea to me,,most people hate wraping gifts Good Luck..
Reply:I agree on location and convenience even if you had your own shop instead of working at home I still don't see why people would leave their shopping areas to bring their gifts to you to wrap for them. Many locations offer giftwrapping on site but it can be exspensive, but even for a cheaper price it seems less convenient to go out of your way just to get your gift wrapped when you could do it yourself. But I do like the idea of the location being one of those booth islands in the mall.

Now the giftbaskets sounds like a great idea you could do that year round birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, etc. Plus location is not needed if you have your merchandise available for browsing on the web then shipping and handling speaks for itself!
Reply:Location Location Location is always important when starting a themed/ precise business.

You want to make your self visible and give people a familiarity with your business. Have you started printing flyers for what's to come. What kind of wrapping paper do you have in mind? WIll it be fancy, artsy, recycled? Will you wrapping the gifts in a clever format?

It's a great idea and if you are willing to do a little more research in your neighborhood.
Reply:you must consider that time and convenience are of the essence for most shoppers. what are the logistics? will they have to bring the gift to your house and wait for you to wrap it or come back? or can you get closer to the point of sale? what kind of stock of paper do you have? i think people need this service, but it usually happens at the store where they buy the item.
Reply:Location Location Location. This would be a great job at the mall and the like in one of thoes Island shops in the mall. However you should have an angle to make your gift wrapping business unique. Like unique wrapping materials or things from exotic places.
Reply:I think that would be a great idea especially for the holidays.
Reply:People would love it...especially the last minute shoppers for any holiday/special occasion. Gift baskets are a great idea also. I don't know where you're located, but if you plan to possibly expand after your business takes off--think positively--you'd better raise your prices a little to make a profit. Good luck to you!
Reply:Personally, I love wrapping gifts, as much as I like to shop for them and give them. But yes, so many people hate wrapping gifts and would def pay for it. They usually have booths set up at the malls this time of year with gift wrappers, and department stores usually have gift wrapping in the customer service department, so people definitely pay to have gifts wrapped. It's more of a seasonal business though.
Reply:oh, so this was related to your other question. yeah, the gift baskets would be nice for Christmas - quite convenient. try to get a corporate client - someone who's planning to give out hundreds or thousands of baskets to their clients. you can also get your items cheaper because you're buying wholesale.

good luck. don't forget me when you'e rich.

Basket Case?

I am starting a business and I need ideas for a name. I will be selling homemade gift baskets. Thanks!?
Start by thinking of familiar words that people have positive thoughts about. Keep it simple and easy to remember. If it is 7 to 10 letters long or a catch word that is about that length then it will help with remembering your phone number. Who are you marketing to? Age and demographic? What are the goods that will be in your baskets? If they are fresh or perishable make the name something that indicates best and freshest. I need more information about your product...

Would making gift baskets be a good business to do on the side?

You would need a good place to sell. I know here where I live the market is saturated beyond help. Prices have fallen to below making a profit I think. Check out the market first- see what already is in your area before you invest any time or money into starting up.

Would making gift baskets be a good business to do on the side?
It is not a bad idea, but what I do is work with affiliate programs on line. An affiliate program, is simply a referral program. You tell someone about the website, they go to the site and buy the product, and you get paid a commission.

This way you don't have to worry about promoting your own products. No delivery, no overhead, no shipping. My website is www.profitwithdiane.com

Who to contact at corporations to sell them products for use in their giving (gift baskets, client gifts, etc)

If you want to sell something to corporations for them to give to their clients or for use in gift baskets to clients or employees or to give out at conventions or business meetings, who do you contact? Is there a particular employee who usually handles something like this? Human Resources? Someone else?

Who to contact at corporations to sell them products for use in their giving (gift baskets, client gifts, etc)
Administration and purchasing departments - they are the ones who source the company supplies. Sometimes they call it the procurement department. If the company is small, the decision to purchase gifts is made no less than by the CEO/COO/Proprietor specially if it is not the usual office supplies requirements.

How do you make/create a fruit/gift baskets?

Here is the website I would like to imitate.

http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/im...

How do you make/create a fruit/gift baskets?
You should pick products that fit the occasion, color scheme, age, religion, sex, dietary restrictions, etc. of the recipient of the gift. You would then need to fill the bottom of your container with newsprint (newspaper without the print) almost to the rim of the container. At this time it would be a good idea to add a piece of floral foam to one side of the container to anchor the enhancements you'll be using. Then you need to add shred to cover the newsprint. Shred comes in many different colors and styles, so be sure to look around before making your selection.

Your next step would be to add the products. I like to add the biggest or tallest products in the middle of the container and work my way forward. I have found the easiest method for me is to use skewers and strong packing tape to anchor the products. When you get to the back of the container, face your products outward so the back of the basket looks nice also.

When you are done adding products, you would then use silk flowers, tulle, decorative tissue paper, balloons, etc. to enhance your baskets and fill in any bare spots you may have. After you have finished enhancing the gift, you need to decide if you will shrink wrap or cellophane the gift basket. I choose to cellophane most of my designs, I just think it looks nicer. But, if you decide to leave a basket at a business for people to see, I would recommend shrink wrapping to prevent people from sampling and pulling apart the basket.

When you start to cellophane the basket, it might take a few times before you can get comfortable enough with the process of making the cellophane tight enough to look nice. I use curling ribbon the hold the cellophane in place and fan out the top.

You should include a handmade bow, in my opinion it just looks a lot better than a pull-bow. There are many ways to make handmade bows. I use the bowdabra. It's very easy to use and comes with complete instructions. Ribbon comes in many different widths and colors. Remember to stay with the color scheme so everything flows together.

Ideally, you should leave three forms of advertising on the basket. These should include a gold-foiled sticker at the top of the cellophane fan, the enclosure card and your business card
Reply:shrink wrap is really cool stuff! it gives your "work of art" a professional touch. I like to take baskets, and fill them half way with shred, and put things like bath items, sundries, etc. for Mother's Day gifts, birthday... whatever! Report It

Reply:First you get a basket

Then you crumple up wrapping paper into large balls and put them into the bottom to fill the space. Something pretty that blends in and isn't all that conspicuous.

Then you put your fruit and some small french cookies, some small boxes of designer coffee, candy or Godiva chocolates?

Make sure you arrange it pretty and cover up all the spaces in between so that it looks like it is full.

Get some corn husk grass or string grass from the craft store. (It looks like a big kids Easter basket grass but it is natural fibers and not vibrant green or plastic.)

put it in between the spaces you just can't fill.

they sell shrink wrap that you put over the entire basket and then hit with a hairdryer that shrinks it tight to the basket and makes a nice seal. add a big fat pretty bow and

Voila! Expensive type basket for cheap!
Reply:We make baskets every year. Start at a thrift store to buy inexpensive baskets--there are many types to choose from. If you want to add more pizzazz to the baskets, spray paint them or hand paint designs right on the basket.

From there, we purchase what we want to place in them--fruit, candy, toys, books, coffee, soup mixes, tea, etc. Add some curled ribbons or other filling for color. Place the entire basket in shrink wrap gift bags (also available at discount stores), turn on the blow dryer to shrink the wrap. Tie more ribbons or attach bows to outside of bag.

The creativity in making these baskets is limitless. And you can personalize them very easily by filling them with specific items that the receiver will enjoy.

Have fun! :-)
Reply:you put fruit in a basket
Reply:first, take one of those thatched baskets that look similar to the one in the picture. you should be able to get them at any craft store (i mean, it's fall, they should have it)..

then, take some cloth or strips of cellophane or something like that to line the basket....you can skip this if you dont want to.

be creative with what you are gonna do next....

decorate it....maybe line it with some (fake) flowers, or twist a (fake) vine of flowers along the handle (you can skip this also)

think of stuff you can put in it: tea bags, instant coffee, food...etc. neatly put them inside, to that the biggest things go in the back..if they are all basically the same size, stack the things on the bottom and put the most delicate things on the top...

REMEMBER, CREATIVITY IS KEY
Reply:YOU BUY A BASKET AND CHINA PAPER and some PAPER AND THEN DECORATE AND PUT A PRETTY RIBBON

GOOD LUCK:)

Anything small!! Low capital.

Please.

I want to start my own small business. And thinking GIFT BASKESTS. But how popular are gift baskets???
It is a great idea. However no business will go anywhere without a game plan of how you are going to market them. Make samples and show them to friends and family and encourage them to tell who they know. Maybe have a "tupperware" party if you will. Contact different businesses that like to give items like this and get them your contact information. If you are a little internet savvy try to put up something on myspace.com

I like giving the ones made by people rather then what is found in the store as it always looks better and is more unique. Best of luck!
Reply:Gift baskets are still EXTREMELY popular. I work for a realty agency and, omg, we get 'em all the time!

Other than that, according to what kind of business you are starting, gift certificates might work.

Where do I sell my gift baskets?
myspace or craigslist
Reply:Start by listing your baskets %26amp; business info on FREE classified ad websites. That way you can start by selling them in your own city so that you deal directly with customers who pick them up and pay CASH. Don't spend any money on eBay or other sites that charge you to list them, or go through all the set up of taking online orders until you test the market in your own city first. A gift basket is like cosmetics... people won't buy them online until they know your products and have sampled them first. Here is a list of some excellent FREE classified ad websites. Ironically, one of them is OWNED by eBay.

kijiji.com (it's owned by eBay and it's FREE)

usedus.com

One way is to offer them to real estate agents to give to their new home buyers as a congratulation gift. You can do this buy creating a full color sales flyer with a picture of one of your gift baskets and describe what's in the gift basket and what it cost and mail them to local real estate offices.

movie night basket- either a movie (walmart has bins of $5 movies) or gift card to Blockbuster, some microwave popcorn, different candy, and some bottles of soda all wrapped in a plastic popcorn bowl. you can get most of the stuff from the dollar store- bowls, candy, sodas, chips, shrink wrap bags, tissue paper, curling ribbon.
Reply:fruit baskets are good.

bath and body products are good too but they will be more expensive.

Look online fore gift baskets and see what other ideas you get.

Good luck
Reply:Go to Walmart or a dollar store and get a basket. Go to supermarket and put in fruit. Tie a Red Ribbon and bow around handle of basket. Go get it and merry Christmas.
Reply:You can also go to places that carry sample size products of food and make up a biscuit/cracker and cheese basket for not much. Often they even have small bottles of wine or bubbly. You can make a nice basket for about $12.
Reply:Good ideas for people of any age are:

-Scented candles (they can be the small shaped tea ones or larger sizes)

-Holiday socks (with Santas, reindeer, snowlfakes, Ho Ho Ho!, etc..Wal*Mart and other stores usually always have them in stock this time of year and they're very cheap, usually less than a dollar a pair)

-Candy (buy a big package and evenly distrubute between baskets)

-Cookies (Betty Crocker cookie dough that comes in packages sold at Wal*Mart makes delicious cookies and is extremely cheap..I think it's about $1.50 a package..either 2 or 3 dozen cookies)

-Candy canes

-Small stockings

-Cocoa mix (buy a box of hot chocolate mix and put one package in each basket)

-"Snowman poop"..look it up on Google, very cute

-Holiday pencils

-Holiday stickers

-Gloves, toboggans, etc. etc.

All of these are inexpensive but great for gift baskets. Hope this helps in some way! Happy holidays! :)

Where can i buy Transparent wrap on a roll to wrap gift baskets up?
Dollar store
Reply:Cling film.

You can get it from most grocery stores.
Reply:Woolworths
Reply:It's called cellophane wrapping - it comes in a roll in the party decor deptment of many grocery stores can also be found in any Party store.

Most popular during Easter season.

Wrap up your basket and tie it with a bow : )
Reply:Go to www.uline.com they specalize in packing material and they are cheap!
Reply:Though grocery stores sell this wrap, are you wanting to wrap a couple of baskets or is this a business for you? If you have a business in gift baskets, you will need a wholesale supplier. You can check on the internet for that or check with a local gift basket or florist shop to find resources. If you have a few baskets to wrap occasionally, your local party store will carry the sizes you will need for baskets either in rolls or in actual basket sizes. And they will offer them in clear colors or patterns of the seasons. Party stores are your best choice.

I did gift baskets for my bridesmaids and filled them with things I knew they would like, and also pads of paper with initials on them, I even made a few cards and hand wrote a note and put it on the inside of the basket. They loved it, and I had fun looking and shopping for each of them
Reply:I HAVE IT!!

Try these! Probably best as stocking stuffers or secret santa. They are cheap and don't look it. I used these last year and they were a big hit. Using again this year.

They have a great holiday special going on and their shipping is quick. I just bought a bunch.
Reply:Always include wine glasses (or flutes with Champagne). I also, add almonds(in flavors), a package of pretty napkins and small plates. You can also add a few singles of microwave popcorn. I call it a New Year's Eve basket. A pretty little picture frame is nice. I've also included disposable cameras in some of mine. I know a lot of folks have gone digital, but sometimes it's nice to have a disposable to keep in your car or brief case. Gift cards for Starbucks($5.00 each)are a nice surprise to find when looking through a goody basket.
Reply:What about bubbles or bath salts. Some of those bath salts made from dead sea salts. They are really wonderful. You could put a gift certificate to your local masseuse for a 30 minute massage or even a chair massage. What about lotions for all mens could be unscented. Hope this helps.
Reply:Why not cheeses? Are they allergic or don't like them? Cheese and crackers would go nicely with the wine and chocolates. How about some hard candies, chocolate covered pretzels? Maybe a couple of nice wine glasses for each basket? Some of the wine bottle charms, and charms for the glasses? A CD of holiday music?
Reply:Maybe some sort of lotion for the ladies also?

I'm never good at buying guys presents.
Reply:I do this every yr cause you cant go wrong,i bought my basket some exotic cheese, wine, summer sausage, aplle cider, and 2 wine glasses at the dollar store, while i was there i bought really nice tissue paper,oh and exotic mustard and hard salomi, all together around $60.
Reply:Small gift books, such as from Running Press.

If they're "believers", charms or icons or holy cards or bookmarks related to their beliefs.

Generic amusing bookmarks.

Candles in tins so a book of matches can be stored in the tin with the candle for actual emergency use. The candle should be *poured* in the tin so there's no fussing with "mounting" the candle when the electricity is off. It's nice if the tin can double as a paperweight or something other than a dust-catcher until it's needed.

A small or large Swiss Army knife or similar for emergency use. It's also red and will look cute on a high tree branch (out of child reach). They're also availabe in *blue* and in black. See link below.

I think of such things as "stocking stuffers", but gift baskets aren't as religion-specific.

If they don't have cel phones, a cheap cel phone with 1 year's service, just for on-road emergencies. This is price-y, but different. If they like it, they can renew or upgrade themselves.

I am looking for tins to put in homemade gift baskets but the tins have to be empty, can anyone help me?

Just a link would be good, I need these to hold cookies.

They have GREAT products.

Otherwise, try Christmas Tree Shoppes or dollar stores.
Reply:You can find pretty tins at thrift stores--they usually have a ton of them--just make sure they are in good shape, no rust or dents--even if you find some plain ones you can always add a pretty ribbon and bow or stickers, etc.. to fancy it up to give. They also are very inexpensive and the real plus to this is , is that shopping in a thrift store is like a little treasure hunt! Good Luck!
Reply:YES GO TO TARGET KMART OR WALMART NOT ONLY ARE THEY WHAT YOU N EED BUT THEY ARE ACTUALLY NICE AND REASONABLY PRICED
Reply:check out your local craft store or even grocery store.

Michaels or Benjamin Franklin
Reply:You just got to get up and go SHOPPING!

Definately go to Target, Wal*Mart or Bed Bath and Beyond!

Reply:It depends on what you want. Wal-mart usually has a nice selection of many different types of containers at Christmas time. I saw some at the Big Lots in our town the other day. I also saw a good collection at a local thrift store. The nice part about the thrift store tins was that they were all different and this would give your baskets a unique flair. Something fun that we bought at Big Lots this year for our Christmas goodie handouts are boxes that look like Chinese take-out boxes. These are a lot of fun and will add a touch of whimsy. Just make an outing and look around at some of your local stores...you should be able to find some good stuff!
Reply:too late for this christmas, but for next year start hitting yard sales, tons of brand new tins in all sizes, very cheap.
Reply:Do you have any Goodwill or Salvation Army stores near where you live? Also, any kind of second hand, flea market type store. If so, that would be a good place to get empty tins at a great price.
Reply:The dollar store actually has great containers. A couple of years ago, I bought some nice Christmas plates and some Christmas cellophane paper and put the store bought cookies on the plates wrapped the paper around them and voila! It looked great and it was inexpensive.
Reply:I would try Wal-Mart, Target, Dollar General, Dollar Tree, Family Dollar for inexpensive tins that are empty.

Another source would be Card %26amp; Party Factory or Oriental Trading Company.
Reply:go to walmart
Reply:They have tins at the General Dollar store. I would try there before anywhere else they cost less and have alot of different styles.

I want to start an online business, in the arts & crafts, gift baskets...anything area?

I have skills including just about any sort of crafting you can think of, I also paint as well. Is there a demand, and what is the best way to get started?

Custom made gift baskets sounds like your best idea. You'll have to get a business license, a supply of basic items you'll stock for each type of basket you will specialize in. Baskets, filler, shrink wrap, enclosure tags and ribbons, are just some of the other things you will need. You will need to to decide what each basket will contain in each price range.Check other on line sites for gift baskets and see what they contain, and figure out what you can do different...to make yours SPECIAL.
Reply:It's tough and there is a lot out there. Try Etsy.com. or RubyLane.com. You can sell your items on both Etsy and Ruby Lane with minimal costs just to see what kind of response you get. I have tried selling on Ebay, but people there don't want to pay for handcrafted items.
Reply:go to ebay and open up a paypal account
Reply:Check out E-bay. they have a large voarit of crafts for sale on there. By now, only things that sell really well are up on more than one or two items.
