Is it cheaper to make your own gift basket as compared to buying one?

I'm not trying to boast but I've been told I make really nice gift baskets. I have a bridal shower to go to but I'm short on cash. If I buy a gift basket and gift wrap from the dollar store, and buy some bath and body products from a local warehouse sale (which is good quality) will it be cheaper than buying a ready made basket?

Is it cheaper to make your own gift basket as compared to buying one?
I've always done my own. For baby showers as well. I always get rave reviews. And it's a plus when you put your time and love into it. Good for you if your good at it. Go for it. I just love putting mine together. I fine the reactions are rewarding as well.

Take care and have fun.
Reply:It's not just baskets anymore! Make a pyramid tower of boxes and put different kinds of cookies or fruit or whatever you want. For a baby shower, a little bathtub with goodies in it wrapped in cellophane. Report It

Reply:That's also a great idea Lis. For baby showers i use those thick see through heavy bags. Like the ones you buy when shopping for Bed in a bag? They zip and button too. Report It

Reply:it would probably be cheaper to make your own.

it also has more value when you make it yourself.
Reply:depends on how much time you have free, dont forget to count your labor as an expense. typically, i earn 20 dollars an hour, so if it takes me two to three hours to do it, its cheaper to spend 30 mins and pick up a premade basket for 40. but it also depends on the person, homemade baskets tend to be more genuine and from the heart.
Reply:I think it would be cheaper to make your own because you can control the cost of the items that you include, and you can decide how many items to put in the basket. I think it would be more thoughtful than buying one, and possibly better looking. Have fun making it, if you decide to.
Reply:If you are getting your materials discounted, you will end up paying less and getting more. Many people would probably choose to make their own if they had the time. Go for it!
Reply:I love making gift baskets, but to be honest, I always find it is more expensive if you make your own. The reason? You add more, you find cute things that you can't decide, so you get more than one, etc. I don't mind spending the time or the energy, but it seems more economically feasible to purchase one. I have even tried to go when there are sales to buy things like "3 for 10", but I always seem to spend more. Baskets are inexpensive if you buy them at Michael's or a dollar store though! Have fun!
Reply:The nice thing about making your own is you can control the quality of products in it.

It also tells the recipient that you care enough to put your own time and thought into your gift, which is invaluable
Reply:making your own is always smarter if you have the knack, you can put nice things and more thoughtful items be sure to put one very nice item tho... no need in being tooooooooo cheap
Reply:thats sweet, go go go! nothing beats the creation of one's own sweat and ingenuit. take it from someone who salutes people making stuffs out of hand

all the best, wish i could see our masterpieces
Reply:Just buy one. It saves a lot a time lady.
Reply:I think buying one is cheaper, because making your own can waste of time and waste of money.
