Themed gift baskets for Christmas?

What movie would go well with an Italian or Mexican food themed gift basket?

Or game that would go with either of these?

Themed gift baskets for Christmas?
itallian...

-under the tuscan sun

-the godfather

-Life is Beautiful

-the italian job

-the bourne supremacy

-the bourne identity

-roman holiday

mexican....

-the mexican

-desperado

-once upon a time in mexico

-from dusk til dawn

-the mask of zorro
Reply:It really depends on the person and the type of movie you want to give.

I would recommend The Three Amigos.

Or you could be really out there and get a movie that was originally in Spanish or Italian with English subtitles.
Reply:Mexican-

Once upon a time in mexico.

Fools rush in

th Mexican

Three amigos

the alamo

anything with salma hayek cuz shes hot!

Italian-

The Godfather
Reply:For Italian:

-The Agony and the Ecstasy from 1965 with Charlton Heston as Michelangelo

-Strange Bedfellows from 1965 with Gina Lollobrigida and Rock Hudson (comedy)

-Life is Beautiful from 1997 with Roberto Benigni

-Il Postino from 1994

-Quo Vadis from 1951 with Robert Taylor, Deborah Kerr (about Roman Empire)

-It Started in Naples from 1960 with Sophia Loren and Clark Gable

-Gladiator from 2000 with Russell Crowe (Roman Empire)

For Mexican:

-El Cid from 1961 with Sophia Loren, Charlton Heston (Spanish, but it might work)

-The Pride and the Passion from 1957 with Sophia Loren (also about Spain)

-Surviving Picasso 1996 with Anthony Hopkins

-Frida 2002 with Salma Hayek

-Selena from 1997 with Jennifer Lopez

-Tortilla Soup from 2001 with Hector Elizondo

-The Mask of Zorro from 1940 with Tyrone Power

I'm not sure about any games that might go well with either, especially not one that would fit in a basket.
Reply:Zorro! .....Antonio Banderas is HOT. :)~

Celebrities and gift baskets?

Did you know that every presenter at the Oscars received a gift basket worth $70,000. They don't need that. They should be happy just to be there. What do you think about celebrities recieving these gift baskets? Are they taxed on them?

Celebrities and gift baskets?
its ridiculous. yeah lets give millionaires a bunch of stuff they don't need...and if they did need it, they have enough money to pay for it themselves. I hate that celebs get everything for free when they are the ones that have the money to buy stuff. Meanwhile there are homeless people with nothing. And military that make crap for salary but they are fighting for their country. They should make the millions. Send them the $70,000 gift baskets.
Reply:I thought they said this year there would be no gift baskets, due to IRS clamping down on the unpaid taxes. It's not like these people can't afford the taxes.

At the same time, it's bizzare that someone who makes 10 million a movie gets a hundred thousand dollar gift basket. It just seems ridiculous. It's like laughing at people who really need money.
Reply:know they are just getting rewarded for that great achievment

but yes, that is way over board....did they put a car in each basket???
Reply:In a way, they were receiving the basket as payment for their services. Think about it. The presenters probably earn millions of dollars on a production, for a few months work.

$70K seems about right for a few minutes work on worldwide television.
Reply:They have enough money and material things. They should donate that money to the poor and homeless.
Reply:OH, cut it out! They all worked hard to get there, that is their job, and maybe one of the few they had this year, some of them. You know nothing about the industry and I do. There are lots of gaps where you're earning nothing, seasons where you're rolling in the dough but with a lot of little paranas yapping behind you trying to think up excuses as to why you should give them a slice of the pie YOU baked and which they did little or nothing to help bake. If you are jealous, do what they did, go down that path and get your own 70,000 dollar gift basket! Stop whining.
Reply:I think it is a great idea to give a celebrity a gift bag. If one of your products get spotted on them it could become the next big thing and receive even more press. Yes, they are taxed on them -- nothing is free!

Reply:I really think they should`t get anything

they are not taxed on them
Reply:I totally agree with the .tamara_cy... But I think they should auction them off for charity.
Reply:I think it's just like anyone giving out party favors at their party but the richer they are the more they can afford to give out.......the IRS requires you claim gifts over a certain amount so they probably were taxed on them........everyone always seems to talk about how people should spend their money and what people do and don't need but the fact of the matter is unless it's your money you shouldn't be telling people how they should or should not spend it and maybe someone didn't need something but they got it anyway (how many purses do you have compared to how many you need?)...also if you know anything about marketing this is a great idea for companies if a celebrity is seen using their product then that's free advertising for them and it might convince fans of the celebrity to use their product....

Started a gift basket business but they are not selling, what are we doing wrong?

In March, my family started a gift basket business. We operate out of home and have website. We attended a major trade show as a vendor and only sold three or four baskets. We sent literature to real estate agents, funeral homes, and the list of potential customers from the trade show. We have also gotten creative and put together cute inexpensive favors for the ladies at the Race for the Cure marathon. We have donated a few baskets for some charity events. We still havnet seen profit. We have also just joined a craft store for the holidays through the end of December in hopes to get ourselves out there. We have only sold 18 dollars so far and its been almost a month. Other vendors at the store sell like crazy and they are selling crafts as well. Is it just that people are not likely to buy a gift basket unless its for a special occassion? Our baskets are priced way under competitors. I know we havent put out any expensive ads, could that be it? Hopefully someone can help.

Started a gift basket business but they are not selling, what are we doing wrong?
Target your market and think about doing specialty baskets made for exclusively for the recipient. That means taking orders and not buying items in bulk but you should see a bigger return than what you're seeing now. Good Luck!
Reply:Ok I'm just the messenger so don't shoot me for what I am about to say. We are in a different "time" right now in 2006. The industries that are booming does not include gift baskets. We are in a different age now.

First it was the Industrial age

Then it was automobiles

Then recently the information age

Right now the fastest growing indrusty is "Wellness".

So let's see...how could we morph that into the gift basket industry? You got it! Make your gift baskets "wellness" gift baskets and I bet you that works. As you know there are millions of gift baskets out there. Why not have a niche on the market?

You could have healthy things in there. I know there is healthy chocolate and snacks for sure. Also by having a WELLNESS gift basket you don't have to put just food in there. You could even have any product that has to do with wellness.

If you are in this business to make money then what I would suggest is find a consumable business. Gift baskets are not consumable. So what happens is when a person buys your basket you are done with the sell and you are done earning income.

However a consumable business is better. When folks run out they reorder and you get paid again and again without having to sell again and again. Makes sense wouldn't you say?

So find a co. with an extremely high reorder rate. If you are doing gift baskets for fun and not really wanting to earn income that's one thing but you seem ambitous and wanting to earn income. Find something Consumable where you keep getting paid.

I know..I know...the moment is coming where we say what we do but it's true. My wife and I are still being compensated for work we did 3 years ago. We are in a consumable business with no selling and no making baskets.

If you can do what you are doing..you would find our business much easier. Bring no money but bring your time to our conference at

http://www.entertheconference.com and have your speakers on. We'll show you what we do and we won't ask you for any dough..nor will you ever pay us.

But consumbables are the way to go.
Reply:Hi, sorry to hear your baskets are not selling well. I can give you a website that may help you if you email me to rpelley5@yahoo.com. Thank you.
Reply:I think it is just the economy. people do not buy extras when they are struggling to pay for necessities. maybe the competition's customers are from an established customer base. It takes a little time to establish ones self. Don't give up hope.
Reply:Just a thought - sometimes if something is priced TOO cheap, people don't want to buy it because - it's too cheap! I'm not in business, but have a feeling if the product is priced correctly (higher) it might sell better. I'm thinking in terms of being a customer and sometimes if things are priced as if to look expensive, I might be more inclined to buy it because I think it's must be a good product. If it's cheap, I might have second thoughts. Sounds funny, but you could try that with some of your products and put the price up and see what happens!

b-day or a holiday?

Sounds like you are doing everything else, good luck !
Reply:I would say that you may want to consider taking sales and marketing courses. There are companies that offer one or two day workshops.
Reply:Retail can be such a pain !! You need to SUPER social and be ready to give away things.

Keep in mind that work of mouth ins the best advertising! It can make your or break you.

You need to make people realize that they cannot live without your baskets!! You need to appeal to certain individuals that will crave what you have to sell.

You need to get some mini baskets made up for giving out to local businesses and institutes. I am sure you have all your bases covered when it comes to types of baskets but I will run through a few just in case.

Are you making bskets that are food and other products ? These gift basket can be anything and you can appeal to anyone simply by hitting what it is they love.

Do you have baskets for local health clubs ? Things that will appeal to the work out crowds such as soaps, candles, fitness music, barbells, sweat towels, sugar free candies, health foods(huge variety), personal hygene products such as specialty deoderants, colognes, etc...

Do you have baskets that appeal to the chocoholics !? Self explanitory.

Do you have baskets that appeal to MEN!? A basket of tools, grease rags, a tire gauge, w-d40 spray, oil can, hanging bracets for the garage, tool box, even a how to book. You can ask your customer what theme. It could be a fishing OR hunting basket for the sportman.

Do you have all sizes of baskets so even a student could afford a small one for a special teacher? One that would have an apple in it, stickers, markers, a special teacher pin or plaque, etc...

Do you hit the local hospitals and nursing homes ? Explain that your baskets can be made to order for every individual simply by asking a few questions about the person receiving the basket. Have one of your big baskets on display at the hospitals for people to view with some explaining that custom baskets are made to order.

Visit your schools teachers lounge, hospital reception area, nursing home, factory lunch rooms, dentist office, mega mart managers, banking institutes of all kinds, fitness centers, chiropractor office, all the churches, insurance offices, car dealerships. Hit up all the break rooms and lunch rooms of all the business you can possibly think of.

You can have the local churches put an announcement of your business in their bulletin. YOU need to get out there and be super social. This would not be a business for an introvert!!

Give out super small baskets as samples and offer a slight discount for the first order and possibly delivery discount if you deliver.

Advertising in the newspaper is not the answer !! Like I said word of mouth is the greatest !

I would think you knew all this already so sorry if I was of no help! Sometimes its just nice to hear others input and ideas.

Good luck and get out there !!
Reply:It sounds like you've done a lot of the positive steps in marketing.

I have to ask this, so that you can ask yourself...Is it possible you need to change the appearance of the basket, or perhaps the product composition?

Most purchases of this sort are inspired by the feeling one gets when they see the product. For example, if you have a range of products that are all different colors that just look "scattered" (to be polite), your sales will be far less than if you have products that have for example black labels, appear to be premium products, and is all put together in a fashion that "drips" with sophistication.

That's just one thing to take a look at if all other things have been considered.

Good luck, I hope it works out for you.

You may make your own Mailing list ( Client Data Base ) of perspective Customers as well a Customer data Base to approach corporate customers to be promoted among particular group or locality you are operating.

Should all illegal aliens receive a gift basket upon crossing our borders?

I think we could at least provide them with some complimentary gifts to make them feel more welcome.

Here's some things we could put in each basket:

Drivers license

Insurance card

Social Security card

Get out of jail free card

$10 gift certificate to Wal-Mart

I know it's not much, but it's the least we can do for our unwelcomed guests... right?

Reply:Why not, but then don't they get all that stuff anyway??? You don't have to be a citizen to get a drivers license,at least in Ohio and Michigan.

Then let's give them free health care, low rent housing, let them work without paying taxes and breed indiscriminately. Sound great, huh??

For x-mas I want to make gift baskets?

What should I put in them? I don't want to spend a lot of money like I did last year on one specific gift for each member of my family. Where do I buy cheap baskets. Should I just buy cheap nice stuff from the dollar store and put it in each basket

For x-mas I want to make gift baskets?
The dollor store acutally has some cute little baskets cheap. They have stuff you can make a bath basket or a kitchen basket. A baby basket, pet stuff. Last yr I even found some cute slippers and sweats for toddles. You can make some nice baskets from the dollor store.
Reply:My local Goodwill store has an entire aisle of baskets for very cheap. That's where I would go.

As far as what to put in them, why don't you bake some cookies, muffins, fudge, etc?
Reply:I think that when giving gifts that it has to be something that people like . if you make baskets they still will have to be each family member specific liking. I would do gifts card or you should do what we do in our family we draw names that way you are not buying all those gifts. It is something to ask them and the best part people are always wondering who has the name . p.s don't forget to set a limit on what you spend.
Reply:sure my aunt does this all the time! Usually she get's us perfume and cologne and some nice things from the dollar store you'll be surprised what you can find. (my mom works for one) :) so go ahead why not?
Reply:nice and dollar store do not go together.
Reply:A dark red wicker basket, put a layer of green and red checkered fabric on the bottom, but make sure it's noticable, and stuff it with candy canes, See's Christmas Candy, ribbon candy, and the cheap chocolates wrapped with foil that look like people. Then put a medium sized santa in a corner, and tie a green ribbon to the side where the Santa is. My friend did that a couple years back
Reply:You can get fast food coupons, movie rental coupons. Small lotions for the women.

You don't necessarily need baskets.

One year my sister did theme ones. She gave me a very large popcorn bowl (plastic with snowmen) and put in it several microwave popcorn, some candy and a couple of movie rental coupons.

You could do hot chocolate ones: hot cocoa mix, marshmallows, maybe a magazine or a book and a mug, of course.
Reply:bake some cookies and put that in tin cans find decorative tins their cheaper than baskets and also you can put candy in some good luck im doing gift cards this year
Reply:I MAKE THEM ALL THE TIME. I GET MY BASKETS AT GARAGE SALES. I BUY SHREDDED PAPER AT A CRAFT STORE. AND I USUALLY PUT A FEW NICER THINGS IN LIKE I AM MAKING BATH AND BODY WORKS G/B'S THIS YEAR AND PUTTING WASH CLOTHES I'M GONNA MAKE INTO ANIMALS AND A SCRUBBY SPONGE. THIS IS IMPORTANT. DON'T FILL THE BOTTOM OF THE BASKET WITH THE SHREDDED PAPER. IT IS EXPENSIVE THAT WAY. FILL IT WITH CRUMBLED NEWPAPER FIRST TO PUFF IT UP, THEN COVER THAT WITH ENOUGH SHREDDED PAPER TO COVER IT. THEN PLACE THE ITEMS ON TOP IN A NICE PATTERN. THEN WRAP WITH CLEAR WRAP AND A BOW. VUALA! GOOD LUCK.
Reply:You can usually get cheap baskets at the dollar stores. Then go to the health clinic and get free condoms to put in them. That says have a merry x-mas, AND be safe :)
Reply:That would be a good idea. You might be able to find cheap baskets at the dollar store. Or try walmart.

Celebrities and gift baskets?

Who thinks celebrities get way to much for free? Like those gift baskets they recieve for just showing up at an event. They are usually worth over $10,000. A law just passed that they need to be taxed on those gift baskets. Do you agree with that? I don't think they should get them at all. They have enough money to buy their own. Maybe baskets like that should be auctioned off for charities? What do you think?

Celebrities and gift baskets?
ya i agree with you.... All they do is make those people more greedy.. sometimes there not gift baskets. they go to a hall and there are tables set there with stuff. from clothes, acesorries, perfume, watches, gadgets ect. and they pick what they want and then they mail it to them...

i think they need to give this stuff to people who are poor. no wait, maybe stop doing these things and put the money where it needs to go!!!!
Reply:yeah! i agree

they're already rich and they get free stuff! they can totally buy it themselves

i think the big gift baskets are worth like $90,000 (oscars and stuff)
Reply:that's why i feel no pity for them and their paparazzi problems.
Reply:i agree...
Reply:uhm its like an etiquette. i think lawmakers are jealous and hey we are too. but its a courtesy. without any of them: no music, no movies, no comedy NO MEDIA WHATSOEVER!!!!!!! recognize the talent and just back away...
Reply:We need a modern day Robin Hood, fix there butts, real good.
Reply:The gift baskets are not a major concern to me. I think it is a good idea that the government is now taxing them because it only seems fair.

On the other note there are plenty of celebrities that donate to charities, set up their own charities, or participate in activities for charitites. The money they give or raise is most likely a lot more than whatever the giftbasket is worth.
Reply:I think the auction idea is great. I think they should receive a 1099 for tax reasons. Most of the company's want the celebrities to wear and use their products so people like us will emulate the celebrity's and purchase their products. It's just a racket.
Reply:i will never feel "sorry" for the rich, better than anyone else stars.

As for the baskets, DONATE THE MONEY TO CHARITIES.
Reply:yea really i mean it should go to like animal shelters or sum thing like that
Reply:Those gift baskets are obnoxious. Just think of how many kids they could feed for what those cost.
Reply:is that you john wayne is this me

What should I put in a wine lover's gift basket?

I need some ideas of what to put in a gift basket for a wine lover...

Obviously I'll put a few bottles of wine.

But what else could I put with this that they would not already own?

What should I put in a wine lover's gift basket?
a gift certificate to a wine maker

a wine tasting box (has the stuff you smell before you taste)

a couple of Nice wine glasses
Reply:well you could get that person some really nice wine glass's. or some chocolate. the best thing to eat with wine is desert.
Reply:Try including fine crackers, delicious cheese (like Spanish Manchego or French Brie), stuffed olives, maybe some dried fruit, pate, and two beautiful wine glasses, or maybe a decanter...
Reply:Gift certificates for a taxi cab :)

Seriously, I think most of the great ideas have already been listed. The only other thing I can think to suggest would be monogrammed cocktail napkins?
Reply:wine glass markers

decreative corks

new wine bottle opener

chocolates

crackers and cheese

candles
Reply:Goblets, cork screw, crackers, cheeses, smoked seafood, sausage, fruits, nuts, decadent cookies, seasoned popcorn, pretzels, roasted almonds, candies.

http://www.gifttree.com/v3/Wine_Gifts.ht...
Reply:This would be an expensive one:

Two Riedel glasses to match the kind of wine you are giving

One Metrokane screwpull opener

One Vacu Vin rapid ice wine chiller

One wine decanter

One wine drip stop ring

Various cheeses and crackers
Reply:A fancy wine opener, cheese and crackers, some wine glasses, and maybe some pasta, as long as the wine goes with a pasta dinner......maybe a gift certificate to a local winery for wine tasting. Be creative and use your imagination, I can go on, but I will keep this rated G....okay PG13.
Reply:If the person loves wine already - I'd avoid the corkscrew or the glasses. Chances are they already have several corkscrews and already have good glasses.

I'd put in a few bottles of wine, some crackers, some chocolates, possibly some cheese (if you will be giving it to them where they can refrigerate it within 3 hours), some *travel* wine glasses, some fun wine stoppers, some pithy wine coasters, and perhaps a few books like 'the wine lover's dessert cookbook' or 'the cheese course'. If you are near wineries, see if you can get a few tasting certificates for them. I'd even consider doing some really high end pasta sauce and a artisan pasta - most gourmet shops and some wine shops will carry this type of thing.

Good luck in your searches! : )
Reply:well most people compliment wine with cheese and crackers, fruit, such as grapes and strawberries, small boxes of choclates, ect
Reply:Go to Tabletop tools.com, they have a wine opener that uses a needle like point with a little gas cartridge in it. You insert the point into the cork and press a button releasing the gas inside the bottle forcing the cork out. I gave this to my mom and she liked so much she started giving them away as gifts to her friends.
Reply:How about some cheese and crackers????
Reply:I live in wine country ( Napa ) so take it from me.... chocolate, cheese, a cute little cheese knife, a wine opener, and maybe some water crackers if you put cheese in the basket. Wine goes really well with chocolate as well as cheese so little things like that make for a great gift basket. Good luck :-)
Reply:hearty cheeses to enjoy with the wine..I like peccorino or parano

anice bottle of dolcetto AND A BARBARESCO WOULG MAKE A GREAT GIFT BASKET
Reply:You could put any of the following:

Double-hinged corkscrew

Icewine chocolates

Wine jellies or jams

A wine stopper or two

Wine glasses

Check with your local wine shop to see what other small items they carry.

What would you like to receive in a gift basket?

AND what do you look for when you do buy a gift basket?

who do you normally buy gift baskets for...if you never bought a gift basket, what kind of gift (preferably bought online) do you buy for your loved ones, coworkers, gf/bf etc...

would you like pretty, not very useful things? food (cookies etc.)? useful things such as a spa set (robe, slippers etc) ? lotions?

I would like opinions from both men and women...

Reply:Beer and Pizza....maybe Cheese too...not that gay fancy stuff though. Just normal cheddar and jack, maybe jalepeno jack.
Reply:I love to give baskets because it's nice way to show how much you appreciate this person. I always give things in a basket that will in a way nurture the persons senses. For example a soft camisole or a scarf,a pack of hot coco a good book and a candle or some incense. There YOU HAVE A SIMULATION OF ALL THE SENSES IN A NICE SMOOTH WAY.

This is the kind of gift this person receives and at the moment he or she is going to use these items he will think about you in deep appreciation, because you took your time to prepare something nice for him or her. It's just nice to give! It's a good choice.
Reply:A GIFT ! ! BUY FOR A FAMILY OR FRIEND OR SOMEONE WHO HAS GONE BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY TO HELP YOU. EVERYONE LIKES TO EAT AND YOU CAN BUY A BASKET SEPARATE THEN FILL IT WITH ITEMS THAT YOU KNOW THE PERSON OR PERSONS WILL ENJOY. IF YOU GET IT FOR WORK LET IT BE FOR EVERYONE NOT JUST THE BOSS. I WOULDNT GET SLIPPERS ETC FOR A " WORK" BASKET JUST SOMETHING TO EAT
Reply:That's the cool thing about gift baskets; they can include anything that suits the person. I like the spa things most because I'm always on a diet and so sweets would just be too much temptation.
Reply:it would depend on who the basket was for.

a baby shower: all baby stuff.

a Bridal shower: things for the bride.

a going away party: letter head, a nice pen, a card, cookies.

office or boss basket: lotion, powders, makeup, candy... use your imagination
Reply:Lotion, chocolate, playing cards, gift cards, flowers, and candy.
Reply:Fruit, tea's, A good read.
Reply:As a woman, I would like lotions, candles, candies, bath gels, spa items, scented oils. I would not like facial lotions or hair products because I like to use my own brands.

Birthday gift basket theme ideas for my mom?

I am thinking about making a themed gift basket for my mom for her birthday and the only two ideas I have came up with are a pamper yourself basket or a movie night basket. I have some ideas of what to put into each, but just looking for other ideas from you guys on what could go into each basket and also what other basket ideas do you have or have personally done or recieved! Thanks so much.

Birthday gift basket theme ideas for my mom?
I have made a lot of baskets professionally and personally. Pamper and Movies are a very popular theme. I think the key is in what you put in it and how well you theme it.

For example - Pamper Basket

Typical items such as lotions, scrubs, etc

Tools - loofahs, bath brushes, toe separators etc

Soothing Scented Candles

CD of relaxation music

Chocolate or herbal teas

Bath Pillow, towels

Pedicure items

a fun book or magazine to read in the tub

The key is the container as well - get creative - baskets are hardly ever reused unless very nice. Try something useful such as a pretty bathroom trash bin, a foot spa tub

Movie Baskets a super fun!

I try to include the persons favorite things

Candy, nuts, beverages, and of course popcorn. Popcorn can be the popping bags, or gourmet pre made such as chocolate covered.

Popcorn toppings such as cheese

Movie tickets

Dvd's of fav movies (can even theme such as girly movies and include tissues)

Include a snuggling blanket for curling up on the couch

A book the movie was based on

Getting creative with containers on this theme is great too, such as a big popcorn bowl and include the indvidual popcorn cups.

A few other popular baskets I do are:

Tea basket - with tea pot and cups, teas, cookies etc on a tea tray

Coffee lovers, coffee or cappuccino cups, coffees, flavored stirrers etc

Chocolate theme - all things chocolate with a fun "chocoholic gift item"

Italian theme - in a large metal strainer or pasta bowl - all the trimming for an italian night, pastas, sauces, oils, kitchen tools, towels, bread sticks, cook book etc

Breakfast theme, all the breakfast fixing, pancake mix, muffin mix, kitchen tools, syrups etc with a nice griddle

Game Night - board and card games, snacks, couch blanket etc

Casino night (great if you have a casino near you) vegas themed items, coins/ money for gambling, tickets to a show or dinner at casino etc

Hope this helps some, if you come up a set plan let me know, I can offer lost more suggestions
Reply:I’ll have to suggest www.creanta.com

They do great and affordable hand made paintings from your favorite photograph. What I liked of them is that they at reeeeaally good at capturing the physical likeness. I was very impressed with the results. In addition to portrait paintings they also do paintings of pets, landscapes and anything that means something to you (like your first car, favorite vacation spot, etc). They’re the nicest people… because I was late with her gift they even hand made a custom card to notify my mother that a special gift was coming her way. I highly recommend them.

Best wishes!!
Reply:Give her a voucher for a nice hotel for a night.
Reply:My mom is into flower gardening %26amp; house plants. I got her a new plastic bucket (%26amp; decorated it; she has watering cans) with seed packets, new gardening utensils and an potted plant. Another time was taking her to the falls in our park and to the butterfly house. She is not into movies, pamper yourself, or fix yourself up stuff like perfumes, etc...

I collect sea shells. So a sea shell basket or a hanging planter made of sea shell plus flower seeds or gift certificate to a greenhouse would be great for me.

Go with your mom's personal tastes, hobbies, etc...
Reply:Does she like cheeses? Does she garden? Does she have a hobby? Is she into exercising? Does she enjoy reading? Does she enjoy music?

What to Put in a Welcome Back Gift Basket?

What to Put in a Welcome Back Gift Basket?

My friend is coming back for a week from Maine and I wanted to make her a gift basket. I know the basics about stuff to put in a gift basket, i.e. disposable camera, candy, little toys, but what else should I include?? Also how about holiday gift baskets?

What to Put in a Welcome Back Gift Basket?
just went through it......

I hadn't seen my friend for quite a while....actually it was years....I got her some trinkets for around her house(reminders of our friendship)....

a collage picture (of our fun times growing up)................

a shirt...

a ring(lasts forever)...

a bottle of wine.......

all of which were greatly appreciated.. it is important to let your "true" friends know that they are important in your life...you never know when you'll see them again....times change...people move on in their lives....but friendships can last forever......
Reply:An object that has emotional significance to her? Maybe some tickets to a movie you can watch together? Try something sentimental.
Reply:If she's on vacation, you might want to include some pampering things like bubble bath or gift certificate for a pedicure.
Reply:Holiday gift baskets?

Depends on the holiday. Christmas: mugs, hot cocoa mix and trimmings, christmas music CD, cute ornament.

Thanksgiving: ? something she could use as a centerpiece, or part of one, little gourds, etc, candles, little camera, cute pot holders, a copy of a family recipe for a cool dessert or side dish.

The Best Food Gifts (not gift baskets)?

For years I've purchased Christie Cookies and Koeze's Nuts (they're outstanding) as gifts for my clients. What are other specific recommendations for companies that sell great-tasting holiday gifts.

I guess I'm looking for answers that are not the first to jump to your mind (such as Harry %26amp; David).

Thanks in advance!

Gift baskets for out of towners?

I wanted to put together a gift basket for out of towners staying at a hotel.

What would be good items..Most of them will not be staying in the columbus area after the wedding.

The reception will be over by four pm so they're going to stay the night before after the rehearsal dinner and we'll have to be up EARLY.

I was thinking mugs with cocoa or coffee (but not everyone drinks coffee)

Gift baskets for out of towners?
When we stayed overnight last summer for my good friend's wedding, they sent gift baskets to everyone's hotel room....which I thought was a terrific idea! In them, they included bottled water for both, peanuts, granola bars, trail mix and gum (which we used the morning after....the mint gum helped ease our tummies for all the drinking we did the night before at the reception).

For your baskets, the hot cocoa packets and coffee packets sound great....everyone likes either one or the other. If they are getting up early, you might want to include something you might take on-the-go for breakfast....breakfast bars or granola bars.

Great idea Ches!!
Reply:I really think a breakfast basket would be great! But don't put fruit and health bars in it. they can get that at the breakfast bar in the hotel. Stuff it full of chocolate muffins, cookies, pastries, and dougnuts. Come on, it's your wedding, let em spluge on some goodies!!

Congrats!!! and i hope everything works out perfect!!!
Reply:Breakfast muffins, cookies...definatly coffee %26amp; tea....

And of course--cotton balls, Q-tips, small sewing kit, stain stick....small toothpaste, floss, etc...
Reply:Bottled water is a definite PLUS! It's so annoying staying at a hotel, and all you want is a bottle of water! :)

Fruit, or muffins... something they can eat for breakfast or as a snack. Is there something Columbus is famous for? You can include something like that. ex. my sister will be putting Hershey's bars, soft pretzels and maps to the best cheesesteak places bc we live in philly.

Another idea she was thinking about since they LOVE wine, is to give mini bottles of wine with cheese and crackers and chocolate. Always fun!
Reply:That's a great idea. Throw some tea in there, too and perhaps some mini honey jars or sticks and some sugar packets.

Perhaps some breakfast cookies or wrapped pastry would be good, too.
Reply:Great idea!

Mugs with cocoa (nice, but optional), coffee, tea, all the extras (assortment of regular and flavored creamers, assortment of sweeteners), maybe chocolate dipped stir spoons, individually wrapped muffins and/or danish, and a snack (granola bars, etc) for the long day ahead of them!
Reply:The only thing about coffee or cocoa is that their hotel may serve provide it in their rooms (it seems like most do). If you have a hotel where most of your guests are staying maybe you could check with them. I think muffins, breakfast bars, etc. would be great %26amp; definitely one or two bottles of water. That's a life saver.

Also, be sure to include maps %26amp; fun things to do during their downtime. Some restaurant recommendations for meals that aren't going to be provided by your wedding would probably also be appreciated (and include directions for that).
Reply:Coffee, and def. tea! Go get some of those honey sticks in different flavors, yum! Get some muffins or cinnamon rolls. Homemade is always good. Maybe add little sewing kits. http://www.minimus.biz/detail.aspx?ID=74... Minis of everything here! Mouthwash, too.
Reply:That is a good idea! Also, homemade cookies go well with that. Include directions to your events, and a list of events and times. Also, give them numbers to contact someone in case they get lost, have a question, etc. (ask a friend or family member from your area if they would be willing to guide out of town guests, and if it's ok to give the guests their number). You might also want to include maps from www.mapquest.com to the closest 24 hour Wal-Mart or drug store-(you never know when you might get sick, need pantyhose, etc). You could also have some breakfast delivered to their room-(If that costs too much, give them cinnamon rolls or danishes that you can purchase in bulk from Sam's club or costco.) Good luck!
Reply:that sounds nice and you should try this websites

http://www.giftbaskets.com/
Reply:Well if they are staying at the hotel, there will prbly already be coffee/ breakfast there. So maybe go with the coffee mugs but I wouldnt' go too indepth with it. I think it is a really good idea though to give gift baskets. Perhaps you could do the coffee mugs with gift cards to starbucks or something they could use later in the day or on their trip out of town. Also, crackers and snacks I think are a good idea along with bottled water (some hotels charge a lot for bottled water if they even have it). I also like the mini-wine bottles since that would give them something to do at night :)

What kind of food should I put in a gift basket, for movie night?

It's going to be a movie night gift basket for my boyfriend, it's for our 2 year annversy, and I cant buy him stuff , like video games or high price things like that , so instend I'm going to make a basket , any ideas.

What kind of food should I put in a gift basket, for movie night?
Happy Anniversary! You didn't say how old you two are, but I suspect that you're still in your teens. So what do teens like?

Salt, sugar, and fat! Here are some ideas:

1. Chips and salsa or dip

2. Popcorn that you pop in the microwave

3. Beef Jerkey, or if you have the dough, buy some salami and

cheese

4. Candy: Reeses' cups, sourpatch kids, hershey bars, laffytaffy

Dots, Malted Milk Balls, Raisinettes (you can often

get 2 for the price of one)

5. Your favorite soft drink or sparkling cider

6. A gift book you make yourself with coupons he can redeem

when he wants, such as "Good for one free kiss" or "Good for

one free back rub". Use your imagination and have fun!

7. Have someone take a couple of polaroids of you and buy an

inexpensive frame for them. They make a nice addition!

Have fun!
Reply:This is a really good idea, but making baskets can end up being a little pricey...include popcorn (microwave), twizzlers, milk duds, etc...
Reply:I would get a gift card to a movie rental place like blockbuster that would pay for a couple of movie rentals. Then add in a couple kinds of candy you know he likes .....like junior mints or snow caps or something like that, and get the box sizes like they sell at the movies. You have to include some popcorn, and a bottle of soda for the two fo you to share. Then you can add some napkins to the basket, and a candle that you can light when the two of you are watching the movie.

Have fun, that's a great idea!!!
Reply:Kraft macaroni and cheese, the blue box blue.
Reply:popcorn, milkduds, red vines, soda, kleenex for sad movies
Reply:Blockbuster (or your local movie rental place) gift certificate, licorice, chex mix, cracker jack, gum, M%26amp;M's, skittles, soda, cookies, snack mix, popcorn, and more candy
Reply:popcorn, soda, chips (like nachos), cheese dip, mini soft pretzel bites (microwaveable ones), candy in boxes like theaters do, any other foods he likes. also, put one or two of his favorite movies or a video store//movie theater gift certificate.

just put any food that you would get at a movie. they even sell toppings for your popcorn in different flavors, like nacho cheese and a bunch of others. then you sprinkle it on top. thats at this store called "le gourmet chef". it might be at your local mall, its at some around me. also, instead of a plain, boring basket, put it in a container that looks like a popcorn container, just made out of hard plastics instead. make his card look like movie tickets.
Reply:siliver ware popcorn kool aid jello chip cookie dip
Reply:My boyfriend's mom makes us a "movie date night basket" every year for Christmas. She gets a couple of DVDs that she knows we would like ( this year it was both the Pirates of the Caribbean...) to that she adds a couple of bags of popcorn, mini coffee bags ( we both love coffee), a can of mixed nuts, pringles, chex party mix, a couple of jumbo candy bars, some of the movie candy they sell at Wal-Mart like the junior mints, sugar babies, etc.....It's the best gift we get every year!!
Reply:Of course the movie

Popcorn

Licorice

Milk Duds

gummy bears

candles- holders

Great idea, Love it.
Reply:Popcorn definetly, skittles, junior mints, sour patch kids, anything that you can buy at the theater. Make sure you have some soda or water to wash down that popcorn, maybe put a few movies that you two like in there, you may even want to put in pj's, slippers and a blanket for cuddling.
Reply:bags of microwave popcorn or just pop some up yourself and put in a bag, hot tamales, junior mints, a 2 liter of pop or a couple smaller bottles, napkins :) , some DVD's from the WalMart 4.99 bin , they have some great titles.

You can actually go nuts making these baskets, the possibilities are endless. Just remember buy the time you buy a lot of this stuff you could have bought a video game! :)
Reply:I would say, microwavable popcorn, chips, salsa, stuff to maybe make smores.
Reply:You could put beer or sodas, popcorn, candy, nuts, chips.
Reply:You should go to Blockbuster or whatever and get those movie theatre popcorn tubs. Then get a different kind of candy box for everyone that comes to the party so they are kind of personalized and put a drink in it. It's fun and guaranteed that everyone will enjoy it!

Do people really like gift baskets?

How can someone know if there getting the right gift basket for the person?

Do people really like gift baskets?
Make it yourself. If you are giving a fruit basket....You should know a little about the person you are giving it to.

I have a few Vegetarian friends so on B-Days, I give them a vegetable and fruit basket with what ever is seasonal at the time.

Like right now I made a few baskets with DRY vegetable soup packets, sweet taters, squash, oranges, dried fruits, a few nuts, apples...etc... Just be creative.

YOU can buy BULK items and make several baskets compared to buying just 1 basket. The cost is way beyond what it would take to MAKE it yourself. and I love personal gifts even if it is a knitted scarf. But I am sentimental.

If the person likes meat...then make a dry meat basket with dry salami, jerky, crackers, cheese etc...

If they like bath oils...go to a Walmart or Dollar store and get a few gift baskets and then go home and take them apart. A make a few baskets with bathoils and fruits..

SEE my dear the IDEAS just keep coming.

HAVE FUN

PEACE

SO many Ideas.

TRUST me IF a man PERSONALLY made me a basket...It would be awesome to get.

P.S. I have made baskets and put them in a metal bucket. You do not have to put things in a WICKER basket. Be creative. Basket doesn't mean BASKET. Use nice box, gift bag...etc...
Reply:That's easy, if you know what the person likes, like luxury bath stuff, like good smelling bath salts, or body wash and what their favorite scents are or if they love candles then that would be the perfect basket to give and it is usually greatly appreciated.
Reply:yes they do
Reply:Why a basket though? Why not a bag or a box?
Reply:Sure why not, I would like them. If you pick one with a variety of different things they will be sure to like at least half of what's in it. Remember it's the thought that counts : )
Reply:it depends on whats in it. I don't really like the pre-brought ones but if someone has put it together themselves with my fav things in them, then I'd love it :)
Reply:People don't really like gift baskets because there are alot of things included which they dont need or even want. Friut baskets suck. Wine baskets are heavy. Food/clothing/accessorie baskets are wack. In fact. OUT with the baskets! Just get a nice bottle of champagne for whoever.

Help with easter gift baskets?

I need ideas of what to get for my boyfriend's 8 year old brother, I already have my boyfriend's 12 year old sister, things for her in her gift basket. the only ideas I have for the boy is a soccer ball, cards, water guns and small cars, and candy with eggs in them, and home baked cookies , that I'm going to make.Any ideas. About 20 dollers, I'm trying to make them fair for each of them.

Help with easter gift baskets?
just add more candy to his to make them balance out. He won't mind and I don't think the girl will even notice. By the way, it's awful nice of you to do this for your boyfriends siblings.
Reply:You could get him a variety of those little rubber wristbands that come in every color and with a variety of slogans. I've seen them camoflauge colored, and sayings that are anything from inspirational to spiritual to fun. Lots of little boys at my school wear them and think they are pretty cool! This could be the "boy" version of little makeup and jewelry items for his sister.
Reply:Last year I made Easter baskets for my pastor and his family, Sunday School teacher and my boss's kids. I put plastic eggs w/candy in them, jelly beans, etc and made homemade muffins, and homemade chocolate crosses. Good luck.
Reply:One idea I do for young children is off to the lowest cost store, like a pound shop in the UK or dollar store in other countries.

I just picked up cartoon DVDs and child appropriate old movies for cheap.

You might find loads of other things for him there as well.

I know you will put your heart into this as you have other gift baskets!!!

That cheeky Lad
Reply:Go to the Dollar Tree or a similar store, just browse up and down the aisles, it is so easy to get ideas that way. Also, WalMart has a cheap section with lots of small toys and stuff. They still like matchbox cars at that age. If he likes little action figures, there are tons of them out there, a cheap calculator, etc...

My son loves to get cool school/stationary supplies in Easter Baskets, Christmas Stockings, etc... Like mechanical pencils, specialty pens, small dry erase board with markers, small bulletin board with designer/specialty tacks, sports team folder, etc...
Reply:That is really nice of you. REALLY nice. Maybe you can add a little stuffed animal or a 5 dollar mcdonalds gift card. Also, bouncy balls or pop rock candy. Go to the toy section in walmart and you can find little toys for 1 dollar. Oh yes.. one other cool thing you can add that they sell at walmart are glow in the dark bracelets. The kind you see at disneyland. good luck
Reply:When my son was that age, I got him comic books, sidewalk chalk, play-dough, colored pencils, simple models, etc. For easter in particular, the chalk, pencils and play-dough. He made his own decorated easter eggs out of the play-dough. At first I thought he was too old for it, but truth is he loved it. (Particularly hiding a fake snake made out of play-dough in my basket).
Reply:Baseball

Fake blood

Plastic dog poop

Fart noise maker
Reply:try buying two or three silly putty eggs in yellow or red. purchase an Easter chapter book for boys, or an Easter fun activity book. get a small Lego's kit that would fit into the basket. get a little tamagochi pet or a mini game of checker. a new game for his video console.
Reply:I think what you have already is great! Honestly a soccer ball will sometimes cost you $20 so I have no idea how you pulled off 20 things for around 20 dollars for her!! A great place to find little things is Target...boys like messy stuff- they have "goo" made by Nickelodeon that's colorful and fun to play with. Silly puddy is always amusing (and small) You had already mentioned cars- like Hot Wheels? Anyways- again, what you already have sounds wonderful. (are you trying to really win your boyfriend over or what?!) Nice job. Very sweet. :-)

I am putting togeter a 'green' gift basket for my brother %26amp; sister in law for Christmas. So far I have reuseable shopping bags, polycarbon water bottles, cleaning products, cloth napkins and a countertop composter. I need a few more inexpensixe ideas please. Thanks!

What to put in the gift basket?

I am trying to put together a gift basket for my sister. She loves to bake, especially breads. I have a warming stone and some tea towles so far, what else should I include?

What to put in the gift basket?
Gourmet bread mixes...
Reply:I agree with the gourmet bread mixes. Maybe also a new loaf pan? Maybe a good book of recipes?

You could also get some nice looking bottles and fill them with sesame seeds, poppy seeds, oats, or anything else she uses to make bread. Tie them off with some nice ribbon. Is there a local farmstand or orchard near you? Some of them might have homemade butters (like applebutter... yum) you could include. Or perhaps some jam?

Does she have a good bread knife? That might be a little expensive, though.

Good luck!
Reply:I agree with the rolling pin and wooden spoons - if she can use them.

What about some honey, jams and jellies, marmalade, etc.?
Reply:You could add some nice wooden spoons, bread mixes, nice chocolate chips, a few packets of yeast, specialty flours?
Reply:a bottle of wine, some bread (french bread) cheese, a bread recipe....
Reply:No offense, but to someone who REALLY loves to bake, getting a gift basket full of pre-packaged bread mixes might not be what she would consider a useful gift. I love to cook but dumping something out of a box isn't cooking to me.

How about:

--One or two really nice bread cookbooks

--A digital scale. Bread bakers often need to weigh their ingredients and a scale can be used for any other food item too.

--A baker's peel to go with the stone

--Different kinds of flours or grains so she can experiment

--A dough slasher

--A really good bread knife or bread board or both

--Paper bread bags so she can give her treats as gifts!

--Compound butters...fruit butters to spread on fresh bread.

--Gift card to a cooking store or website
Reply:You MUST include Tupperware!!!!!

There are a few pieces that are absolute "must haves" that she'll use for the rest of her life.

2. Saucy silicone spatula - Not just a spatula for scraping bowls. This can be used in pans or pots up to 400 degrees for stirring and will never crack, melt, or curl up and it's diswasher safe (on sale now)

3. Thatsa Bowls- The MEGA size is awesome! It's HUGE!!!! It also has a hole on a small handle that helps you keep a hold of the bowl while you stir.

What should I charge a customer to buy a gift basket?

I just started a gift basket business and I have my prices set already. Small - $10, Med-$15, Lrg-$20, but that is just for basket and decor, then I charge a different price for the themed items I put in the basket. Which is usually another $30 at least. Does that sound reasonable to you, because a few of my customers at first thought that was to much, they always want a $20 basket, but they don't realize when you add up the basket, decor, items, card, delivery, and taxes, that $20 is pretty unreasonable. Should I advertise it differently? I would appreciate any suggestions

What should I charge a customer to buy a gift basket?
Yes..advertise differently. You are confusing consumers by throwing too many $ amounts or surprising them with additional costs. If your customers are willing to buy stuff for $20....considers other gift ideas that you may provide as part of your inventory.

Use words like "Gift Baskets from $50" or disclaimers with "Additional fees not included"

Good luck

Where can I find a vegan gift basket online?

I am looking for a really nice vegan (food/treat) gift basket that is fairly inexpensive. I have attempted searching online, but all I get back are products I have never tried before. I would hate to send a gift basket full of crappy food.

Where can I find a vegan gift basket online?

I've received gifts from other people from this company and enjoyed them. It's mainly food items but they have many other things, too.

Advice on how to start a gift basket business?

My wife and her sister had a good idea-- to start some sort of gift basket business. We're looking for options and/or advice on what would be the best and most proven way to go about creating this or a similar biz.

Advice on how to start a gift basket business?
The above makes a good point, We too have tried simular interest and agree.

There are all kinds of ideas that can branch out from your idea. Crafts can make a woderful small business.

Remember you can add other items on a website along with your baskets, just offer the baskets local and offer other items via mail.

If you are interested in something like that i would be happy to share a source with you:

Good luck, keep us up dated if you start a site.

Reply:I thought about this type of business long and hard. I have been in at least 8 businesses in my lifetime.

I decided against this one because of several reasons at stated below:

Too Hard to Ship

Too Costly to Ship

Not enough of a Profit (hard to cover cost of doing business like location, utilites, advertising, items for baskets etc)

Items that go into baskets are costly and you can not skimp on amount you put into the baskets or you will not get repeat business. You have to buy in BULK and then you have to sell many baskets to cover it.

People are Pickey with these Gift Baskets

Cost Money to deliver (gas, time, car wear and tear) and most people want them delivered.

Location is the most important and so is Much advertising.

When you realize you only get $10-$50 for most baskets it is hard to make a decent profit to cover business costs and make money too.

Most people who start these shops have a sideline with it like candy, flowers, toys.

Of course, you have to like it and make an attractive basket set up. I have been doing that for years and enjoy that part but it is time consuming too.

Other ideas for businesses that are similar:

Balloon Bouquet Business (much money from parties, car lots, and such) very little cost involved.

Candy grams (very little overhead, pure profit)

Good Luck
Reply:1. get a website and a brand (www.web.com)

2. price out your costs and make sure to pay for yourself and your supplies while allowing your business to grow

3. market locally

4. use your contacts (www.linkedin.com)

What to include in a gift basket to surprise wife with a trip to Paris, France?

i need items that i can include in a gift basket that i can surprise a client's wife with a trip to Paris, France this Christmas, for example the commercial where a woman unwraps a hot dog in a box and automatically thinks Chicago. I need a bunch of items for a gift basket that i can buy. just want some good ideas.

What to include in a gift basket to surprise wife with a trip to Paris, France?
If you want to go the kitschy route, fill up the basket with replicas of the Eiffel Tower, Napoleon and Les Invalides. But personally, I'd take a classier approach, and one that's consistent with your 'hot dog/Chicago' approach:

Fill your basket with baguettes, wonderful French cheeses, some pates and rillettes (with accompanying cornichons and moutardes, of course!); and most important, French wine. To add a whimsical touch, perch a black beret on top.

She'll know right away where she's going, and she'll have a lovely lunch to enjoy while she plans her activities in Paris.

Good luck!

Reply:What a great gift!!!!!

I think should look for things that scream France...

like maybe a black beret, eiffle tower key chain, French fries (if you wanted to be funny), croissants, a pictures of France, a mini French flag, a picture of Napoleon (again would be funny), a map of France (check traveling agency's), a French maid costume (something you both can enjoy :) ), wine, banquettes, take a walk around the imports section in your grocery store I'm sure you'll find something...

Have fun in France... Au' Revoir!!
Reply:In addition to some flowers and candy I would include Art Museum and Eiffel Tower tickets.

Also a map of Paris with some landmarks highlighted.

Cheers.

What would you like to receive in a gift basket?

AND what do you look for when you do buy a gift basket?

who do you normally buy gift baskets for...if you never bought a gift basket, what kind of gift (preferably bought online) do you buy for your loved ones, coworkers, gf/bf etc...

would you like pretty, not very useful things? food (cookies etc.)? useful things such as a spa set (robe, slippers etc) ? lotions?

What would you like to receive in a gift basket?
Useful things. After my most stressful quarter, my husband got me a basket with champagne, bubble bath, and a soft music CD. It was the best!
Reply:I usually go with lotions and bath stuff but that really takes little imagination. Think of the person your getting for and be creative. If u don't know em to well than try a movie gift basket, Popcorn, a blanket, a couple of movies, maybe some movie passes, or a rental card to the video store so they can pick their own. Have fun with it. U could also theme it to the event, For baby showers i always do a memories basket with photo albums, picture frames, and some disposable cameras! If u do food, make it damn good, cuz food is over done, think sweet treats that u normally wouldn't by for yourself, or try old favorites theme, with candy's like pez, hershey and baby ruth.
Reply:When I purchase a gift basket for someone, I look for items that I might use myself. Car washing items for guys are a great idea. Animal lovers might like wipes, toys, snacks, etc. Bakers like to receive pot holders, timers, cookie sheets, etc. Movie lovers like to receive certificates for movie rentals, movie tickets, popcorn, etc. Gift basket ideas are endless. If you are considering going in to the gift basket business, there are many websites to help you.
Reply:movie passes, old fashion candy ,popcorn, soda in glass bottles .anything hard to find, i hate the stupid lotion baskets it's something i let collect dust than give to the thirft store... i like funny sex baskets dirty movies ky and some naughty toys
Reply:i lyke lotions, shampoos, conditioners, soaps, colognes, mostly bath needs, b/c i spend a lot of tyme in the shower.
Reply:I love getting them, I never give them; and I like them full of food or toiletries that I'd never treat myself to.
Reply:I always imagined a gift basket with small pre packaged foods [i.e. cookies, chips, candies], I like it that way.

You could also throw in random trinkets based on the recipient's likes for a personal touch.

How do you package and ship a gift basket?

I'd like to put together a gift basket filled with toiletries, spa supplies, and other things. How do I package the gift basket properly so that I don't have things falling out of the basket and moving around when it's shipped to its destination?

How do you package and ship a gift basket?
First of all, you don't want things in the basket shifting around while in shipment. To keep things in their place, use styrofoam or floral foam to act as spacers and you can even push the edges of some items into the foam so that it stays put better. To hide the foam, cover it with dried moss of whatever color you like, or even thin shreds of colored paper. Many products are available to use for that purpose. You can use staples to hold the moss or paper to the foam. Also, try to use baskets without handles since the handles can get in the way when you go to shrink wrap your basket. Ideally, you want the shrink wrap to go directly over the items in the basket rather than over a handle. It works better that way. Use as much of the shrink wrap as is necessary, heavy items may need more than light items. Finally, ship in a box that has plenty of room on all sides so that packing peanuts will completely surround the basket. After all, if you're going to work that hard on a nice gift basket, you want to make sure its well protected. Have fun making your baskets!
Reply:i have done this and i roll tape to keep items in place in the basket. i tape one item to another you cant see the tape . then seal it with the basket wrap. you will need lits of bubble wrap and peantus to fill the box too.
Reply:One needs to seal it tightly with "Shrink Wrap". It seals it where nothing can move at all. One can buy the heat sensitive plastic wrap at most any craft place or party place. Wrap the entire basket with items well displayed, bringing the edges all up at the top, tightly in your hand, while using a blow-dryer to heat the wrap and basically "shrinking it to fit". You'd think it will melt, but it won't. It just "shrinks" the wrap to a tight fit. Then one needs a really sturdy box to pack it in, with plenty of room around the gift "basket", so there's plent of room for packing materials to go completely around it. One can use tissue paper, wads of colored paper, styrofoam "peanuts", or whatever, but it has to be packed really tightly, because usually the heaviness of the gift basket must be supported by the packing materials. One can do this yourself for a lot less money than paying UPS or a service to do do it, because they charge double, triple or quadruple the cost of supplies just to wrap and mail it.
Reply:Wrap it in ceranwrap that activate with heat like a blow dryer. When shipping the item use lots a peanuts; u know the white foamy things. They sell this at Staples, Office Depot or shipping places.
Reply:Baskets look nice, but if you're shipping it perhaps a gift box would work better... you can use ConTac paper, gift wrap, decals, paint, whatever to make a nice looking box, pack the items securely in that box, then put the finished gift box in a shipping box. Maybe not the same impact as a basket but can still look nice and greatly simplifies the packing issues.
Reply:I'm sure these are good ideas, but take it to the UPS store or similar. It's what they do. They'll correct whatever needs to be done.

Gift baskets?

I want to make a gift basket for my uncle for his Birthday... i thought of getting him a bunch of diffrent beers as hes a real manly man type guy who has beer with every meal

OKay so the qustion is does anyone know where (online or in Toronto, ontario) I could get a cool bakset type thing to put the beer in im open to suggestions as well on how to persent it. I was thinking of putting it in a new tool box and wraping with with selo but he has a tool box so anything along those lines....

Gift baskets?
My husband recently had to have a tool bag (bag for carrying tools on an airplane) when he went to another site to work and had to carry his tools with him. You could get him one of these for when he might need to take tools from toolbox to another area or a tool bucket (also for carrying tools). Then go to a place called world market (they sell international beers) and get him some beers from there and put that in the bucket or bag.

Reply:Here is a link to a cool website where you can find cool stuff to use a gift basket. http://www.greatbigstuff.com/
Reply:There are many online places that sell beer buckets, some are inflatable and you can put ice in them for a party, others old fashioned like the tubs of aluminium. Most of the colleges have their logo buckets that are fun for alumni. We used a half of a wood keg, it made great decor for the deck.
Reply:How about a beer bucket, they make them in several different selections. If you go to Ebay and type Beer bucket in the search, you can view several different ones ranging from $2.99 to $20.00! You can use his fav beer, and add tshirt or hat, etc.
Reply:go online and find a beer of the month club
Reply:I did one of these for a friend once, but I just used a normal wicker basket. Added a few different types of beer (his favorite and then some funny ones I found at AJ Foods like Dumb A** Ale), some beer nuts, a mug %26amp; shot glass, and some coasters customized with his name and cellophaned the whole thing then added a big ribbon. He really liked it. If you want to go with something different for a container that would get used again, you can get the simple beer bucket type things at most general type stores (Target, CVS, etc...not sure what they have in Canada). Or you can get a customized tub at a website called Personal Creations for about $25 US. They ship to Canada via UPS, no guess on shipping charges.
Reply:how about a personal size cooler like manly men carry lunch in to their manly jobs?? Coleman has 2 sizes one to hold a 6 pack and one a 12 pack size..it can hold more then beer and its reusable..you could add some slim Jim's or pretzels his favorite snacks..a beer t shirt or beer hat

Need help on gift basket ideas?

I would like to make sort of a gift basket to give to someone. The guy I am giving it to is rich, so I would like to have this gift basket be rather fancy.

I bought a bottle of 2005 vintage Champaign and am planning on buying cheese. What else could I buy? What about chocolates?

Thanks!

Need help on gift basket ideas?
I would put in some shortbreads, wafer crackers, feta, goat, and other cheese, grapes, 2 champagne glasses, strawberries and chocolates, summer sausage, napkins and plates -- great picnic!
Reply:I'm not trying to support any one story but this store has some wonderful things that could go in your basket:

1. wine glasses

2. fancy cork screw

3. lovely table cloth

4. candles

(cold cuts, fresh fruit, and chocolates from local market)
Reply:How about making him something?

Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:

Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!

The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.

Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.

Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.
Reply:Think of stuff you would see rich people owning or eating. Put it in there.

Looking to sell holiday gift baskets in my area how do i get started?
Visit stores you are interested in. If they do not already have gift baskets, ask to speak to the owner and let them know your plan. Ask if they would be willing to attempt to sell your baskets for whatever % you plan to give them and then tell them you will bring one by for them to look at tomorrow -- free of course.
Reply:e-bay works good or your local flea market

Reply:Go to the Walter Drake website ad get some business cards made up. They are 250/ $5.99 which is a pretty good price. Look around your area for those free newspapers. You have to advertise to see them! Place an ad in one of those papers. They are usually cheap, too. I would take a few pictures of the finished baskets and print some 5x8 sized flyers up. Discribe what you can put in the baskets, like food, baby stuff, wedding ect. Then mail them to the stores you are interested in. There was a woman in the next town that stated doing that and she built that business up to the point where she could affford a shop. SHe had a lot of business from plants, doctors and corporations who would have the baskets sent to their clients. If you know how to do it this could be a great at home business. ALso there is a book out there called how to start a gift basket business. You should buy it. See if it's available on www.albitris.com or Ebay's half.com
Reply:My suggestion would be making flyers and posting them in your local food stores and maybe even in the library. Alot of people would see and contact you for more info.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!!!
