What would you buy in a gift basket for mums and babies?

most gift baskets seem to offer things that the mum already has loads of - or things that she would never use. or they have useful things but are really expensive. i am thinking of selling some and would like to know what you think should be included - what you would like to get. I would like to do baskets for mums, babies and both together - what kind of price would you also be willing to pay - whats the very most that you would pay?

What would you buy in a gift basket for mums and babies?
two receiving blankets (baby blankets), a lot of onesies (those undershirts that close with three buttons in the diaper area), a few baby bottles with the one way holes in the bottom so that air goes in but milk doesn't come out, also a few cute bibs and for mom, add a bubble bath solution with matching lotion in a lavender scent proven to be calming, and a few tea bags to sit back and enjoy. I would pay $35-$45 for it, (if wrapped very nicely)

Reply:Plastic backed, velcro fastening bibs, nappies, baby wipes, photo frame, disposable camera, shawl/blanket, sleepsuits and something personalised like a sign for the bedroom door.


For mum, anything that is relaxing like lavender bath soak, scented candles, pedicure set for when you can reach your feet again, relaxation cd and a copy of 'The Baby Whisperer' without which I would have been completely lost! Also, maybe you could make a voucher for the Mum promising a babysitting session or cooking or housework to be done by the gift giver. I would haved LOVED some of those!


How much I would spend would depend on who I was buying for, I think for someone close up to 75 pounds. If you are going to sell them I would suggest doing different price ranges. Best of luck to you!

Reply:What I think would be really good in a gift basket for mums and babies would be useful magazines such as practical parenting, information on local mother and baby groups, toiletries for both mums and babies, samples of nappies in different sizes, money off vouchers for baby clothes, samples of baby food, health spa vouchers, useful leaflets such immunisations information, items of clothing for baby, teddy bear, rattle, congratulations card, blanket and flowers for the mother. Last but not least ear plugs, only joking.

Reply:I would put infant med (acetaminophen, gas med, be kool patches, some electrolyte drink) Things that kids need when newborns but parents don't think to have on hand. Plastic gloves, thermometer, nose siphon,and band-aids would be good too.





I would also make a mom relaxation kit.





I would pay 40 dollars for a full med kit for babies.
Reply:For babies - a hat according to the season, a groovy bottle or cup, a book, a toy and some personal stuff.


For mum - vouchers for hair and make-up stuff, bubble bath, a book to put baby's milestones in, a picture frame and a little bottle of her favourite drink.
Reply:I'd put things in like calpol, teething gel and lots of other things that you never have on hand when u need them and for mum .. nice things like face packs bubble bath things she can pamper herself with if she gets the time ..

Reply:If you are going to make a big basket for mother and baby I would say A good qulitly bottle I prefer natural vent air but any good qulity bottle would work , onesies, diapers newborn I would say pampers because that is what most hospitals use and they are softer and smell better than huggies, sensitve baby wipes, a really nice blanket and a few receveing blankets, and I loved it when people gave me gift cards to babies r us or any place that sells baby things because then I was able to buy what I needed. I would pay anywhere from 50-100 for that type of basket just denpending on the quality of the things in side if it was all cheap crap I wouldn't but it at all but if it was good qulity I would pay good money.

i had a lot of johnsons products, i found having pure lavender oil in my bath at night helped my stitches (ouch!!) to be soothed and relaxed me..


and johnsons baby bath with lavender and lavender talc just before bed is really nice!


i could be a johnsons freak - but hey its helped me get my daughter in a routine for night-time!!


i also got fruit, a lil bottle of champagne, enough for 2 glasses and a pair of ear plugs for the other half lol

Reply:a nice bath soak and huge choccy bar for mum for when she ever gets a spare moment to indulge herself. for the baby you can't go wrong with babygrows. as a mum of four i know how quickly the pukey little people go through them
Reply:As the first twelve months go sooo quickly, give the new mother something she can use to record the passge of time. A disposable camera that when finished should be posted to a lab tht will not only develop the film but also send back it in a baby phot album. Set up a host beneficiary with a photogographer so they pay for it, and you get the added value.





Also mothers need a break, so again get voucjers from a day spa to be used to the mother to pamper heself and remind herself that she is still a woman.

Reply:I'm expecting my first baby in 4 weeks. I've resigned myself to the fact that nobody will ever buy me a present again (well, not for years anyway) they'll just assume that I want 'something for the baby'. With this in mind I would definitely include something for the mother in your giftbasket, possibly a box of chocolates (before the post-baby diet starts) or something like lipgloss or body lotion, anything to remind the new mum that she's human after all !
