I need ideas for a moving away gift basket....?

We want to make a gift basket for our friend that is moving away. We thought about kleenex, address book, calling card....any more good ideas. She is relocating for her husbands job and going to be a stay at home mom.

I need ideas for a moving away gift basket....?
If they are moving to a place with a garden, add seed packets or bulbs. If not, perhaps one of those windowbox packages that has the little pots as well as the whole kit.

Other ideas : welcome mat or chimes for outside. If you have time, organize a food voucher from a local restuarant, probably available with a little internet research and would let them eat out their first night of unpacking etc.

It's the thought that counts, anything you give them will be more than appreciated!
Reply:1 - decoration(s) for her new home

2 - comfy slippers and/or a bath robe she can enjoy while she stays home

3 - recipe book with some of your own recipes and favorites

4 - plane tickets to come back and visit you

5 - pictures and/or a collection of places, people, and things she will miss when she leaves...maybe even turn it into a scrapbook

6 - a recording of you saying a goodbye message

7 - a new photo album for her new life

8 - magazines, books, and other publications about the place she'll be moving to such as good places to eat, shop, and go for fun, the city's history, interesting facts, and other useful information...even a map

9 - stationery complete with pen, paper, cards, and envelopes with stamps and your home address already on them

10 - a disposable camera she can use to take pictures and send to you with the stationery
Reply:a gardening book and some packets of flower seeds so she can watch the flowers blooming as the children start growing, or a cookery book to start doing home cooking.

would love to make all my own home cooking and mess around in the garden but I work all day.
Reply:All great ideas. How about a scrapbook with some photos of everyone. And some reading materials - books or a subscription to her favourite publication. You might add some spa type things for pampering now that she will have more time for herself.
Reply:How about a photo-album with pictures of you and her and other mutual friends, as well as places you know she liked?

Or, you could do what I did for my boyfriend (now husband) when he moved to another state. For his birthday I took a video camera and visited as many of his friends as I could and had them all say something to him on film (I let them decide what to say...it all worked out better that way). I also filmed some of our favorite places and sent it to him. He loved it. You could do that and put it in the basket with instructions not to open it until she gets to her new home.

If she likes to write, then some stamps and stationary would also make a good gift.
Reply:add a gift card to a store such as home depot, wal-mart etc.
Reply:find a book about the area she is moving to.
Reply:picture hangers are always nice. Hand towels, fancy soaps, candles, stationary and stampsif she still writes the old fashioned way, etc.
Reply:a bottel of booze and a bag of sticky
Reply:All great ideas--Add some post cards of things around her now that she can have as a keepsake too---NOTE CARDS with her new address embossed-are also nice--and a good hint to stay in touch!!
