I want to make my parents and in laws a gift basket, what should I put inside?

My in laws and my parents have done a lot for me, and I want to give them a homemade gift basket as a "thank you" gift. They both like drining coffees and teas. What kinds of things can I put into the basket? And I don't want to buy a ready-made basket, because I know both my parents and in laws really appreciate it when I give them homemade stuff.

I want to make my parents and in laws a gift basket, what should I put inside?
What a WONDERFUL adult child you are! First, get a really GOOD basket they can use after they take the 'stuff' out ... then add the following stuff ...

1. a pair of really 'appropriate' cups or mugs ... choose them for their art work AND their capacity. Have you 'listened' when they were drinking and heard 'small complaints' about their cups or mugs? Can you find 'the perfect cup/mug' for that person? THAT is the 'beverage server' you want to get.

2. Get bags of real coffee beans ... get one each of the different 'roasts' ... light, medium, and dark, and also get at least four of the 'flavored' coffees, and be sure to get some with caffeine and some decafeinated.

3. Get a 'grinder' so they can grind their beans, even if they normally drink instant. They WILL love grinding their own coffees if you do this.

4. Get at least 5 different 'flavors' of tea bags ... some 'herbal' and some 'real teas' in the flavors you think they'll like best.

5. Get at least 5 different 'loose teas' (same as 4)

6. Get a nice 'tea strainer' ... they have some that are really nice, that can be 'hung on the wall' with little 'charms' on the other end of the chain. I've got one now, and I drink A LOT MORE loose tea because I've hung it on the wall, and don't have to 'search' through the drawer for it.

6. Get some 'unusual' cookies, brownies, and, if they like a 'sweet' for breakfast, get them some 'breakfast cookies' you think they'll like.

7. Get them a good 'small' cookbook of cookie/brownie/ breakfast sweets so they can 'make their own' or just enjoy reading it while drinking their goodies.

8. Add two 'special spoons.' You may also put in two small good plates, to set their cookies on.

Wrap it in a NICE tablecloth rather than using 'plastic' ... they'll probably have a small table they can use it on (or can buy one for very little if they want) ... and MOST IMPORTANT write each couple a 'note' saying how MUCH you appreciate them 'being there' for you all this time, and that you want them to 'relax' and be happy, because it is because of THEM that you and your spouse are so happy.

Reply:How about a couple kinds of premium coffee beans, grinder, hand chosen mugs and nice sugar/creamer. If they don't like coffee, maybe couple bottles of wine, corkscrew, wine glasses and dish towels or napkins with wine or grape theme.
Reply:You can look up 'recipes' on line to make cookie batter and coffee mixes. One of my favorite is taking ground coffee and adding some cinnamon and nutmeg in the grounds and putting that in a jar. it smells and tastes great. Also, hallmark has these coffee mugs for travel that you can design yourself. i made my husband one with pictures of us and our families one year. Loves it and so personal.

Coffee in different kinds that they would not usaly get

Same with teas as above

Different kinds of home made cookies

A thank you card for each couple

For the ladys depending on if they like them get them a gift card to get their nails done for a manicure or pedicure with your wife.

You and the men could maybe eighther go fishing or golfing at a really nice place. if they are active enough. i dont know how old they are so that is your choice.

And this is my favorite, If it would not be to much work and if you really wanted to you could make them a scrap book of all when they were boyfriend and girlfriend to their wedding and all the way up till now. they would love that.

Well if you want more ideas just contact me and i would be happy to help!
Reply:If they like coffee and teas, you've answered your own question...

Buy 2 plain white coffee mugs and paint them. If you're not much of a painter, then buy two mugs that are unique and/or fit their personality (like dogs, city scenes, trucks, etc). Then in teh basket put different flavored coffees and teas. You can buy alot from Starbucks.com or go to Target, they have a lot to choose from.
Reply:If they do not have a capuccino maker, maybe you can put one

My brother bought me a small (knife size) cappucino hand held blender, just to make the froth, which I really loved. You can put in different coffees and tees. Banana home made muffins and/ or carrot muffins. Chocolate chip cookies (you can make them home made or store bought) and/or home made chocolate truffles (my brother makes his own chocolate at home. You can put in a recipe book

of different coffees, teas and deserts. If that is not available, search online for recipes and compile it into a book.
Reply:I would put together samples of different teas and biscuits (Cookies) Maybe throw in a bottle of liquor if they like to sip from time to time. A Cheese and cracker basket with a little fruit is also a nice gesture. Or... you could take them out to tea (dinner) to a nice pub or restaurant.
Reply:Think of the magazines, books, movies, things like that they enjoy, pop one rolled up with a ribbon around it, put some neat teas in little jars, tie up with pretty pinking shear cut material on top, tie a tiny spoon with it, find some cinnamon sticks put in a pretty little tin box to use as stirrers. You might find a set of coasters for their glasses. a pretty tin filled with the small tea biscuits, or crackers/nut mix. not real big ones just enough for a tiny snack. You might find a mug just special for each one and load it with cappacinno mix, tied up in a baggie real pretty like. For the guys you can make it according to their likes, fishing-hunting motif, sports, etc. I found when I put a Lighted magnified glass in my gift baskets, people really do enjoy receiving them...just a few small things, new nail file, emery boards, maybe a pair of warm fuzzy socks...of course you can wrap all of these in tissue paper, and then they have to unwrap each one, makes it fun for them. Good luck and have fun!
